One of the largest underwater installations features 330 sculptures submerged just 5 meters below the surface at Divi Little Bay, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten.

Only accessible by boat and off-limits to outside
swimmers, each sculpture by , is made from a pH-neutral material. Designed to act as an artificial reef to encourages coral growth, marine life, and safe habitats for juvenile fish, this doesn’t extract from its environment.

The installations tell the story of the island. Local residents were even used as models, grounding the work in real community identity.

It’s locally operated. Revenue is reinvested into education, conservation, and research.

It’s not just art in the ocean, it’s for the ocean. 🌊

These are not matchsticks. 🔥🕯️

At first glance, they’re visually clean and minimal. Then it hits you. 🧯

What looks like oversized humanoid matchsticks burned at the tip and then quickly extinguished is “Matchstick Men.” These sculptures were created using molds of real faces, then cast in materials like wax, wood, and resin.

Slightly burned out. Slightly over it. Very relatable.

We know burnout is real and things may not always be as they seem. That’s the tension Stiller plays with so well.

Developers are commissioning museum-level public art for their buildings. Why? Cultural capital compounds.

When a development integrates thoughtful artwork, not temporary staging, several things happen at once:

⚪️ Positioning: the building becomes a local landmark.

⚪️ Who it attracts: more than just residents.

⚪️ It protects differentiation: a permanent, site-integrated public artwork becomes synonymous with the address itself.

At the Society building in Wynwood Miami, a 30-foot permanent sculpture by South African artist titled Lumen anchors the building’s 2nd Avenue entrance. Commissioned by and , the work is clad in cracked tile mosaic, both sculptural and experiential, monumental and energetic.

Lumen isn’t décor. It’s become part of the building and part of Wynwood’s visual landscape.

The most sophisticated projects today don’t treat art as an accessory. They treat it as infrastructure, identity, and long-term value creation.

When Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Batman, and The Simpsons become psychologically complex, some find it unsettling. Others find it deeply human.

Spanning the entire third floor of the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami Museum, the late New York artist transforms familiar cartoon figures through dripping enamel, monumental scale, and decades of obsession.

Familiar yet faintly menacing, these characters we think we know reveal how innocence and darkness often coexist.

🌊 sits right on the water next to the of Science. 🔭 Let’s see if it lives up to the view. 🫠

✔️ The Crowd: For a Thursday, it was a lively mix of kids on school field trips mixed with locals.

✔️ The Artists: A strong mix of South American and American artists, plus a few museum regulars like Cy Twombly, we see you. Refreshingly, a solid representation of female artists like Gisela Colón.

✔️ The Art: Mixed media is having a moment. Plexiglass, wood, plastic, lead, and broken glass. Miami artist T. Elliott Manza clearly understood the assignment, creating a dark satirical artworkby incorporating toys, stuffed animals, plastic flowers, foliage, railroad tracks, an alligator head, acrylic, and wood into something that somehow works for a creepy yet fabulous sculptural wall piece.

✔️ So how does work end up in the Pérez Art Museum Miami permanent collection?

Most works were gifted to the museum, from collectors, artists, or both. Others are acquired directly by the museum using funds from its in-house Collectors Council, sometimes with additional contributors. Museums are curated ecosystems. Nothing is accidental and most works endure multiple review rounds, layers of consideration, and years before earning wall space.

This is exactly why collectors and artists sometimes walk museums with an independent art advisor (no institutional agenda involved). believes in understanding context, tracking trajectories, and seeing what institutions are willing to invest wall space in, and why. Without the pressure of a sales floor, it becomes much easier to identify what actually resonates and how that might inform future decisions.
