✨NEW SERIES!✨ Chapter 1: The Photoshoot

I'm documenting the journey of building my creator business.

Ive been helping a lot of people with various things over the years... Now it's time for me to create a formal service offering to help individuals and businesses.

I enjoy working with creative people so naturally this was the first thing I wanted to try.

I think the beauty about sharing this with you is that Im not alone in this journey. I feel like you're a part of this with me. Especially if you've been here since 2020, then you know the wild ride the past 6 years have been. 🫶

I'm excited to continue documenting this so stay tuned for Chapter 2! 🤘✨

PS: I'm doing "chapters" and not "days" because everything I'm doing takes time and it makes sense for updates every few days lol ✌️

A simple shot that looks dope for any video. ✨

Having interesting shots to compliment your script definitely is a large part of making a string video.

I'm always trying to recreate some of the interesting shots and ideas I see on the internet.

I am pleasantly surprised by how cool this shot looks.

Coffee plans turned into a full blown photoshoot. Here’s what happened 👇

I met Abou (Creator based in Montreal) at a creator event during my time at Snapchat.
We kept in touch and planned to meet up for coffee when he visited Toronto. 🇨🇦

Last week he was visiting Toronto for some events and we made time to simply catch up.
Later he asked me if I could take a few pictures of him…

(Little did he know that when I was in college I used to love photography and taking pictures. Something I enjoy even today but havent done professionally 😅 )

So we did the shoot… and I loved every second of it.

After the shoot I had this idea to put together a fun ‘retro handycam’ style video. This is that video.

I learnt a few things from this experience:

1️⃣ 3.5 hours of walking around and clicking photos is physically exhausting

2️⃣ Background colours are essential when making fashion focused content - outfit vs the background. Abou had a good eye for this.

3️⃣ Plan well beforehand to make the most of a shoot - Number of outfits, gear for the shoot, etc.

4️⃣ Have fun with the process - If it feels like a ‘job’ and you aren’t having fun, something is wrong.

5️⃣ Collaborate with different creatives - You will learn new things and you’ll realize you have a lot to offer too

This was purely an exploratory project but I have a feeling I will do more of this as a service offering for creators in Toronto.

Practicing my filmmaking ✨ Finally finding time to edit and put this out ✌️

I am not a "filmmaker".
I hesitate to even put the word "cinematic" because I have a lot of respect for what that means.
However, this is my interpretation of what I consider cinematic.
I've always been fascinated by great storytellers and film makers.

This is me practicing to improve... Day by day... Video by video... To some day reach where I want to be.

For now, I hope you'll enjoy watching this shot scene I put together of a Snowy day in Toronto. 🥹❄️

Calling all the black sheep! 🐐🐏🐑

I've always felt like an outsider in the corporate world.
The black sheep.

I'm good at my job.
But I'm not good at playing the "corporate optics game".

I am so passionate about my 5-9
But I couldn't openly talk about it as much.
(For reasons ill share another day)

I'm nervous but also excited about the next chapter.

For now I just want to say...
Thank you for being here. 🫶 I don't take you for granted.

I hope you'll welcome my 'black sheep energy' as I navigate this next chapter of my life.

I'm going all in.

PS: I just watched the movie 'Sheep detectives' and I think that's why this song came up in my head lol Highly recommend watching the movie. 10/10

Trying a new format. I know I haven't been as active lately and trust me there are legit reasons which I'll share very soon... 🙌

Core memory unlocked 🔓✨

A part of me knew that there was something missing in my life... the energy levels seemed a bit off.. this trip showed me what was missing...

IRL time with my creative friends 🫶

This platform has given me the opportunity to make so many friends through shared interests.

Meeting these friends IRL for the first time was nothing short of magical ✨

Every single person I spoke to after this trip said they were inspired and just full of warm fuzzy feelings.

I guess that's why it's important to find your tribe and keep them close.

Not everyone will understand your pursuit.

But when you find those that get it, keep em close.

Thank you for the invite. 🫶

After the year Ive had, this trip was exactly what I needed to find myself again.

With a newfound courage to explore being creative in more than one way... I can't wait to create again and share more here. 💜

4 days to go for a new start... What have you got planned?

I'm so grateful for the people I've been fortunate to meet.

I tell anyone looking to build their brand: Focus on relationships without expecting anything in return and bejng selfless.

It just boosts your morale in finding joy in the process.

And funny enough after a while you start to attract the opportunities you could only dream of.

It's the long term game for me.

10 years later I want to be laughing about this journey with other friends of mine who were on a similar path like me.

Your peers are with you, not against you.
Find your tribe.

We all have varying motivators.

For some it's feeling healthy and strong.
Others it's buying nice things.

If you generally struggle with finding motivation then this is for you.

Set your reward for Project 50 completion from the start.

So that you know what you get on completing the challenge.

For me, my new skill that I'm working on is improving my video storytelling.

This is an expensive hobby involving a camera, lenses, lights and a lot more. Before I got into spending all that, I plan to use this challenge to make sure I feel like I earned it vs it being just another thing I BUY.

I'm sure you have something you are longing to buy but haven't (for all the right reasons)

It doesn't necessarily have to be something that you buy, could be something else too. Whatever you feel counts as a reward.

Maybe that's all the motivation you need 🤷‍♂️
