CombCutters: Live Bee Removal CombCutters is a small business run & owned by local beekeepers. We remove & relocate hives from un And so Rebecca had a plan. A what a delicious world it was!!!

Three friends, Monique, Rebecca and Jerry were living together in Miami working to make their lives sustainable. They were growing fruit trees, gardening, raising chickens for eggs, composting, and creating a permaculture paradise! Of all the amazingness they could gather from their backyard, there was one thing missing…Sticky, Drippy, Golden Sweetness!! She came home one day with a package…a package of bees! All three friends excitedly began to gather information and gain hands on experience as they entered the world of beekeeping together. They learned that bees are incredible communicators, builders, architects, care givers, pollinators, and protecters; and just as they were living in community, building their lives together, so were the bees. They felt a true connection to the bee world, and appreciated the sweetness it brought into their lives! They learned that, while bees have been threatened in recent years by colony collapse disease, habitat destruction, and extermination, in South Florida, where there's no winter die-off, there is a thriving wild bee population. As they got deeper into the bee world, their friend, Brendhan, of Bee Barf Apiaries, introduced them to the idea of removing hives from peoples' properties as an alternative to extermination. In 2009, when Monique's birthday rolled around, the three friends decided to take the plunge, by answering a "free bees" ad on craigslist! They removed a well established hive from a garage; it was the perfect birthday adventure! With many pointers from Brendhan, the removal was a success!! And thus began CombCutters: Live Bee Removal Service. In recent years, Monique & Rebecca have combined their love for bees with their passion for environmental education, and offer engaging presentations at schools, customized for each audience.

Help us fill this bingo board to reach our fundraising goal & send 6 Palestinian beekeepers to an international beekeeping conference by sponsoring a dinner for a night, covering the cost of transportation for one beekeeper, or pitch in towards shared housing costs for all!

We'll be updating the board & posting to our stories regularly, so keep an eye out to follow along and check the collective process.

Grateful to everyone who has donated or shared so far, and so inspired by the individual fundraisers that are being organized to support this campaign!

Send funds to CombCutters on venmo, or [email protected] on paypal or zelle.

Two weeks since the Sea Grape Jelly Workshop already! We've been wanting to teach canning workshops for awhile, so sea grape season was a perfect opportunity to try it out. We ate sea grapes, made jelly, canned, discussed food sovereignty, canning as power, ethics of foraging & more. Everyone went home with a jar of jelly.

Grateful for everyone that came and contributed to the conversations, & looking forward to the next one!

Who here wants a second round of the sea grape jelly workshop?

Who wants to try out canning other things?

Who has canned before?

Let us know in the comments; we want to hear from you!

We are fundraising to get our Palestinian colleagues to the 16th International Conference of the Arab Beekeepers Union! We want to cover all costs, including conference registration fees, travel, food & housing for 4 to 6 Palestinian beekeepers!

We firmly believe that beekeeping is directly linked to sovereignty & liberation in Palestine. Supporting Palestinian beekeepers' ability to present research, connect with academics & practitioners in their field, and increase access to beekeeping knowledge & expertise directly counters the ongoing ecocide, attacks on food sovereignty AND scholasticide that Palestinian communities face.  DESPITE it all, our friends remain steadfast, growing their apiaries, and continue to inspire us with the knowledge, experiences, and understanding that they alone can share.

Send funds to CombCutters for venmo or [email protected] for zelle or paypal.
