Hurricane Isaias vs. The Pizza

As Tropical Storm Isaias rapidly became the first hurricane of the Atlantic season for 2026, its predicted to strengthen to a Category 2 or 3 before making landfall late Friday night or Saturday.

If you are in the projected path, you still have time to make last minute preparations or travel to a safer location. Having experienced a number of hurricanes first hand, I always advise to take these storms seriously.

Foodie Tip for the Storm: Who doesn’t love pizza? It’s not only a delicious option for storm prep, but let’s be honest—For many, cold pizza is just as good (or better) than one right out of the oven.

Here’s how to turn pizza into a storm-ready meal:
- Order a few of your favorite pizza pies from your go-to pizzeria or restaurant.
- Once home, separate the slices and wrap individual portions in parchment paper.
- Place wrapped slices in ziplock bags or plastic wrap.
- Stash them in your freezer.
- Should you lose power, simply pull out slices as needed, let them thaw, and enjoy.
- Note: If you have access to a propane or charcoal grill, use a pizza stone or pan and reheat the slices.

It’s a much better choice before you have to resort to your canned goods or non-perishable foods.

If you or your organization needs help with hurricane preparedness and disaster planning, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m just a phone call or Teams message away.

Wishing safety to all those in the path of the storm—let’s stay prepared and support one another!
