It doesn't take much to create a "safe-space" for someone.

A simple, "How are you" and pausing long enough to genuinely listen, is a good starting point.

That might just be the opening needed for someone battling depression and suicidal thoughts.

I didn't date much before getting hitched. Maybe because there weren't many suitors knocking or I was just too busy to notice potential interests.

What I knew for sure was that, while waiting, I was extremely calculating and meticulous about identifying what I wanted in a life partner and what I could not live without, clarifying my identity, and honing my own personal core values (non-negotiables).

Working through layers of ish created over the years by many factors was necessary too.

I got married 2 days shy of my 45th birthday! My magic number was 28. Things went exactly as they needed to.

It's noble that many of you will strategize and plan for your educational pursuits, careers, finances, and significant purchases.

Pursuing, engaging and building healthy relationships require the same deliberate approach.

Park those "butterflies" and "Disney World fantasies" for a moment. Let's have a candid conversation.

Yes, "trauma bonding" is an actual experience.

I've observed individuals wrestle with the "need" to be with a certain type of person, even though the telltale signs are there that say, "Run for the hills!!"

He/she met a need when you were at your lowest point. Yes, the connection was deep, powerful, amazing, exciting!

That was then.

Now it's choking the life out of you, both figuratively and for some of you, literally.

BUT, that's the "type" you like!
