This weekend was an amazing weekend cheering on my girls Tracey McMaken-Vazquez and Dalisey Piedra, D.M.D as they ran the Chicago Marathon 🫶🏽🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️💨 The energy in the city this weekend was amazing 😍 I am so proud of the dedication, discipline and commitment these girls showed in training and preparing for this marathon I was so proud of you both✊🏽 I also got a chance to network and bring back some nice additions for my practice from the Expo ✅ A big thank you to my friend Marisol Estevez for sharing this trip with me and running the city with me literally 😂💗

My KIN 463 class had a special treat last week when Luis Orue, Product Specialist for CorpusVR Virtual Therapy came to present for our group. Luis Orue ✊🏽

We learned about the amazing improvements in range of motion, balance and cognitive organization our athletes and patients can benefit from with this new and innovative form of Virtual Therapy. 🤯 We especially saw the potential benefits for concussion protocol and neurological disorders in which we could improve objective performance in balance, range of motion and reaction time by integrating a focus environment where we could alter speeds, level of cognitive deciphering, colors, backgrounds and therapy tasks. ✅ A few of our students even got to try the CorpusVR and said they could see first hand the benefits this could have in a Sports Medicine setting.

A big thank you again to Luis for providing us this experience and giving us a preview of what the future of recovery services looks like ✊🏽🙌🏾

This patient came to me with sharp neck pain after a fall and unable to turn her neck after a “whiplash” injury from a fall. As you can see from first picture she had significant swelling at cervical spine and spasm at the upper traps. After clearing that she had no radicular symptoms I was able to reduce her swelling with ultrasound, Myofascial manual techniques and dry needling to both cervical spine and upper traps.

Post-treatment you see the reduction in swelling and she reported a reduction in pain and increased range of motion with cervical rotation. Her follow up includes cervical stretches and scapular stabilization exercises. If you are experiencing neck pain or non-resolving swelling contact Sasha N.
