The Oil & Gas industry comprises three strategic segments, each with critical assets, highly complex processes and operational risks that require specialist technical assessment in the event of a loss:

🔹 Upstream: exploration and production. Wells, platforms and drilling equipment exposed to blowouts, fires, containment failures and damage to offshore facilities.
🔹 Midstream: transport and storage. Pipelines, terminals and storage tanks where risks range from ruptures and leaks to spills with environmental consequences.
🔹 Downstream: refining and commercialization. Refineries and petrochemical plants with high-pressure thermal and chemical processes, where a failure can escalate into explosions or prolonged shutdowns.

⚠️ Heavy rainfall has struck central-northern , with intense precipitation triggering the activation of ravines, rising riverbeds, landslides, and falling trees in the Atacama and Coquimbo regions.

The Chilean Government declared a Constitutional State of Catastrophe in Coquimbo and Huasco, and later extending it to Tierra Amarilla (Atacama), following road closures on Río Potro and Route C-453.

Chile's disaster response service, Senapred, said the extreme weather has left thousands affected, with more than 100,000 people isolated and several people missing nationwide, with disruption to the potable water supplies and damage to road infrastructure.
