What Do We Do
When people think of private investigators they most often think of them as doing surveillances to catch a spouse or a mate cheating. Although that is certainly one of the things we do, we do much more than that. The following is a list of some of the other services we provide:
Criminal Investigations: When someone is a victim of a crime it is reported to the police. Generally, a uniform police officer will write a report and it is then forwarded to a detective for follow-up. Detectives are required to do whatever they can to investigate each reported crime. However, if there are no investigative leads, then the case is filed away and no further police action is taken. Police departments are allotted an annual budget which they must stay within. The most serious crimes are given a bigger portion of the budget while less serious crimes often are not provided with an adequate budget which may result in crimes not being adequately investigated.
A private investigator can work in tandem with law enforcement and provide them with evidence to move forward on a criminal investigation that they otherwise may not have been able to.
Civil Investigations: Civil attorneys, also referred to as personal injury attorneys, have a lot on their plate and often use private investigators. The following are some of the things a private investigator can do:
• Obtain formal statements from witnesses and victims
• Ascertain if there is any video of the incident from surveillance cameras
• Document the scene by taking photos and video
• Obtain recorded 911 calls of the incident
• Obtain police records
Asset Searches: Often there is a need to find assets of an individual or company. An asset search may be for vehicles, vessels, property, bank accounts, or brokerage accounts. The following are examples of when an asset search may be useful:
• If a family member passes away and the eligible heirs are not aware of the monetary assets of the decedent. A nationwide search of the decedent’s bank and/or brokerage accounts can be conducted.
• If there is a civil judgement there may be a need to locate hidden bank or brokerage accounts.
• Finding hidden bank or brokerage accounts for pending divorce cases, pending civil suits, delinquent child support, delinquent alimony.
Background Check: It is prudent for employers to know who they are hiring. Background checks are important and can be used to determine if the applicant has been truthful when completing a job application.
Locate Reports: There may be a need to find someone for various reasons. The following are some examples of when this service would come in handy:
• Locate a witness for a civil or criminal case
• Locate a long lost relative or friend
• Adoption cases
