👏 The Franklin at 11th Street Station is in the spotlight! 👏

The mixed-use high-rise development was recognized as the Project of the Year by the Mid-America Economic Development Council as part of its development awards. These awards recognize outstanding endeavors in economic development efforts.

Developed by Flaherty & Collins, The Franklin is adjacent to the South Shore Train Station and part of Michigan City’s TOD – the first and only rail TOD and FTA Joint Development Project in Indiana.

The apartment community includes 220 studio spaces with one, two or three bedrooms, walkability to the city’s downtown and direct access to Chicago via the South Shore with a time of 67 minutes.

Tours are happening soon and the first residents are moving in this fall.

The project was prompted by the train station renovations, grew from the initial plans for just a parking garage and spotlights the benefits of positive private public partnerships.

✨The Michigan City Neighborhood Leadership Academy is launching a fall session to help nurture active leaders and create community members who will enhance and impact their neighborhoods.

✨Applications are now being accepted for Michigan City residents ages 18 and over who reside within the city limits.

✨Applications are available at https://vibrantmc.com/neighborhood-leadership-academy/ and will be accepted on a rolling basis, through Sept. 24. Fillable PDFs can be downloaded, completed and emailed to Program Manager Pat Matsey at [email protected].

✨The program includes eight sessions on Thursdays from Oct. 1 through Nov. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. Mandatory Cornerstone Class sessions will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays Oct. 17 and 24.
