Paul Kemiel Photographics Paul Kemiel, from Michigan City, Indiana, has made a 36-year career in photographing high-speed motorsports. It is always a challenge.

It all started in 1978 while Paul was present at the Formula One Grand Prix auto race in Watkins Glen, New York. In 1981, he attended his first Unlimited Hydroplane and Offshore race in Detroit, Michigan. This ultimately was the beginning of his publishing career, when he sold his pictures of the racing coverages to LAKELAND BOATING Magazine. Kemiel has had his photographs published throughout the

USA in various nautical and boatracing magazines and worldwide exposure throughout thirteen foreign countries. Paul has been a regular contributor to the APBA PROPELLER Magazine since 1988. Currently, his photographs appear in; POWERBOAT, PERFORMANCE BOATS, HOT BOAT, MERCURY RACING, SOUNDINGS, and the online magazine, OFFSHORERACING.SE based in Sweden. Paul is one of the event photographers for the TUNNEL BOAT/CHAMPBOAT series. "My passion in recording the images of the Unlimited Hydroplanes, Offshore, CHAMPBOAT/tunnel boats and Formula One Grand Prix, is in capturing the subject at it's highest peak of action. Squeezing the camera's shutter release at the "decisive moment', that split second in freezing the boat and propeller out of the water, or, a race car's wheel off the pavement in the apex of the turn." "I never tire in my commitment to achieve that goal. Especially, in the photographing of the Unlimited Hydroplane...the world's fastest race boat and most dangerous "speed" sport. I was "hooked on the hydros" from my very first visit on the Detroit River in 1981."
