Meet Kelly Breitzka, our Warranty Administrator and part of the B&E Marine crew for 30 years!

Originally from LaPorte, Kelly got her start helping at boat shows with her husband Mike, our former Parts Manager. That led to working in the Ship’s Store and at the parts counter. As Kelly puts it, “He left and I stayed!”

Today, she finds satisfaction in getting warranty claims reimbursed for our customers and B&E.

Outside work, Kelly enjoys her two grown children, four grandchildren, horseback riding, birdwatching, and NASCAR. A good fantasy movie or Netflix series also makes her list!

Her ideal boat? A small runabout or pontoon for relaxing days on inland lakes.

Thanks, Kelly, for three decades of dedication to our crew and customers!

Meet Jeff Niemi, our Master Technician and part of the B&E Marine crew for 20 years!

From Chesterton, Jeff started as an automotive technician before taking his skills to the water. He holds Mercury and MerCruiser Master certifications and is an ABYC Master Technician. His favorite challenge? “I love a good electrical problem.” Fortunately for our boaters, he enjoys solving them!

Some of his favorite projects involve Zeus drives and V12 engines. Outside work, Jeff enjoys time with his wife and children, camping, riding motorcycles, and learning about airplanes.

His dream boat is a 2005 Sea Ray 500 Sundancer because, in his words, “It does everything well.”

Thanks, Jeff, for two decades of keeping our customers ready for the water!

Think your boat is safe just sitting at the dock? Think again!

Take a look at these photos from our service department! 😳

These are zebra mussels covering a boat’s stern drive and water intake. When boats sit unused in the water for extended periods, these invasive little creatures can attach themselves to underwater surfaces and multiply quickly!

⚠️ Why should you care?

* Clogged water intakes can cause engine overheating.
* Heavy buildup can reduce performance and efficiency.
* Zebra mussels can damage equipment and lead to costly repairs.

The lesson? Boats are meant to be USED!

Regular boating, periodic inspections, and proper maintenance can help prevent problems like these. And remember, simply running your boat isn’t enough to guarantee zebra mussels won’t attach!

Meet Chris Cipares, our Sales Consultant and a familiar face at B&E Marine for 27 years!

A Michigan City native, Chris grew up boating with his parents and grandparents. With 24 years in boat sales, his favorite part is helping families and friends experience that same joy on the water. One of his favorites to show? The Boston Whaler 170 Montauk—versatile fun in a compact package!

Away from the dealership, Chris enjoys horseback riding with family and friends. He’s even seen Mount Rushmore from the saddle! He also enjoys cutting and splitting firewood, so he knows a thing or two about horsepower AND wood power.

Meet Rosanne Skertich, our Controller and part of the B&E Marine family for 41 years!

It started with a bookkeeping job ad, an interview, and a “you’re hired.” Four decades later, Rosanne helps keep the business running smoothly—and says her favorite part is still the people: our crew and customers.

After all those years, she jokes, “The only thing I don’t know how to do is service a boat!”

Outside work, Rosanne enjoys her kids, grandkids, dog Zuzu, boating, snow skiing, and ballroom dancing. She’s also toured the country by motorcycle with her husband, learned to fly, and captains their boat!

Her perfect day? A warm, flat Lake Michigan. “There is nothing like it!”
