Hello 👋 Everyone!
I am so excited to be able to write this! Bear with me its gonna be lengthy. So, let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself and how my business came to be! My name is Christina and I am happily married to my husband of almost 2 years, Josh. We have 5 (yes 5) beautiful girls who range in age from 4 to 13. We just recently bought our first house 🏡 in which i was fortunate enough to be able to build the kitchen i have always dreamed of, right down to the extended island and double wall oven! Now lets talk a little about how my business idea began!
I have loved baking for as long as i can remember. There is truly not much else that makes me as happy (aside from my Children and family 👫) than the enjoyment and happiness I see in the eyes of those that i give my treats to. I have been told for years that i should open a bakery but there was always something missing for me I didn't want to open just any bakery.
Now fast forward to my current job. I do have a decent well paying job so I should be in the *i can't complain* category. But it doesn't drive me, it doesn't challenge me, and on some nights most of the work i do just leaves me with time to think. On those nights i spend that time thinking of ways to pick the winning lottery numbers (or at least 5 of them) or I try to think of an invention that will help me strike it rich. I have had a few ideas (none that i could or should share on here Lol 😂).
Then one night all I could think about was how badly I want to bake for a living but how could I make it unique? Then, I started thinking about how my oldest just recently did a fundraiser for school in which she earned the school $566 by herself in just one week. I thought wouldn't it be cool to do something like that? And thats when it hit 🎯 me! A bakery revolved around kids. Also what if the kids earned a portion of the profit too? Not only could i bake but i could have kids (who volunteer) help sell the goodies! But how? Isn't it illegal to have kids work without a work permit? Well mostly yes, but in this case each child will be hired as an independant contractor. This will allow them to choose to work when they want.
So whats the plan? Well when each child and their parent/guardian sits down with me the child will choose items that they want which will go on their Goal Sheet. Then they will sell specific items from my brochure and will recieve 30% of the profits off each item they sell! Once they reach their goal amount I then purchase everything on their Goal Sheet! This will then end the program for them and the next child on the waiting list will be contacted and get an opportunity to earn the things they want!!
My intention here (besides being a business and making a profit) is to help children get things they really want by earning it themselves. I want each child to have pride in what they earned. I want them to be able to pick goals and keep those goals in mind and then achieve those goals. I want to watch them cross the finish line with pride!
