Good morning. I was going to avoid informing residents to avoid an economy scare, BUT I've decided to be proactive and inform the MANY faithful customers of Cleveland Garage Door about the changes in my industry to protect themselves, as well as reward SO MANY for the decades of service that we have shared together. As of today 11/18/2021, new garage doors are approaching over 100% MORE than they were one year ago, garage door springs for new doors OR REPAIRS are fast becoming EXTINCT. We purchased a 3000 # spring pallet early this summer attempting to be prepared for this shortage, but the shortage and increases CONTINUE to push on and plague our industry. Today it was announced that new garage doors will now arrive WITHOUT SPRINGS. This is like buying a new car without tires! We have been seeing doors arrive for the last 4 mos with a yellow "Missing Parts" sticker on the box, with no price adjustments, which is theft from the manufacturer. Garage door springs for repair (which is every one of you, approximately every 8-10 years on an attached garage) are no longer available for purchase from any northern Ohio supplier.. so if your garage door spring set is older than 10 years, you are next in line to be stranded from the shortage (or ripped off from others in our area with 1-800 numbers today that are charging unfair prices for take-it or leave-it availability of their out-of-state stock). I can't beg for springs from people that can't sell me what they don't have! It's like your tires going bald, and there's no tires to buy anywhere around for your car! Tires are next btw.. Welcome to "INFLATION" folks (garage door style). What is "INFLATION", it's an UNREASONABLE RISE in cost of products, causing you the consumer to spend too much for a product, then run out of money, and become poor. Everyone heard about lumber and saw the damage it caused earlier this year, but that's coming down (mainly because it was a product from Canada). Politicians sold out steel under George Bush's "Steel Tariff Act", unbeknownst to the general public. Nobody knows about the damage in the garage door industry because it's not on the news. There's no end in sight, so hang on for a AT LEAST a few more years... Expect to see board-ups and garages turn into carports (like the new developments here, and down south). We've never seen nothing like this in 42 years. Mostly, thank you for your dedication to Cleveland Garage Door for so many years.
