As you drive through to get here, you are surrounded with the scent of freshness, greenery, and openness. With some calm tunes on, I was immediately transported into another world. While hard work most definitely still happens here, it's a different type of hard work. One that is essential to our daily lives! Black dirt contains high levels of rich organic matter which makes our local produce grow happy & healthy.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of exploring Pawelski Farms! Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, we discussed weeding tactics and explored the farm to talk about small farm management. Farmer Chris enjoys planting the out-of-the-ordinary produce (peep the purple pepper & the pineapple tomato). & Of course, I found a farm cat 😂

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a Cornell Cooperative Extension event at the Lisa Rittweger! We walked around the garden while discussing techniques, tips, and ideas with the Master Gardeners. Ending the gathering with a delicious peach salsa (which I got the recipe for!) 😋

Yesterday’s adventure took us to the other side of the Union Square Farmer’s Market! 🍅 We spent the evening sorting tomatoes, putting them into pints, sorting greens, and loading up the truck. It was really cool getting to see and be a part of another part of the process, this time starting from the very beginning. Definitely a different perspective than what I’m used to seeing at the market!

Question: What do you create with tomatoes? Ive been eating lots of tomatoes just straight up raw but Im looking for some other ideas! Ive made an omelette, and some cottage cheese toast, and Im thinking of making a focaccia bread. What have you made??
