Monday Motivation
I read this post by Mark Brodinsky in our Trusted Referral Partners Skool Group and was so moved by it I wanted to share with you all.
Tired, Tired, Tired
I wanted to share a really good, authentic email that was shared from someone I follow who is a "marketing expert", even she knows the deal. Create relationships, be a good person, try and help/lift others. Her name is Lisa Zahiya and I'm proud of her for being vulnerable. Here you go:
Hey team,
So here I am in my newsletter about sales and marketing with a confession...
I am so, so tired of marketing.
I'm tired of figuring out the perfect launch.
I'm tired of trying to figure out how to influence.
I'm tired of figuring out the right hook for my reel.
I'm tired of screaming through the noise.
I just really want to be human.
I want to be honest and imperfect.
I want to help people.
I want my clients to shine and grow.
I want to get paid fairly for my expertise.
I want to tell the truth. I want to say what I do and tell people how I can help them.
If it works, I want them to buy from me, and I will commit to delivering an excellent product.
That's it.
I don’t think I’m tired of marketing. I think I’m tired of song and dance marketing.
Which makes me ask myself the question:
What would sales and marketing look like if the goal wasn’t to manufacture attention, but to make it easier for the right people to understand what I know, what I believe, and how I can help?
Sooo, to put my money where my mouth is, here are my commitments:
I will say what I actually think, even when it isn’t optimized for engagement.
I will clearly tell people when I have something that can help them.
I will stop manufacturing urgency, drama, and constant visibility just to stay relevant.
I'll be imperfect and recognize my own effort and my own nervous system.
Maybe good marketing doesn’t need to make people feel more urgency, fear, or inadequacy. (aka like sh*t) Maybe it can simply help someone understand what is possible, what you do, and whether it is right for them.
