TRAFFIC ADVISORY – DOWNTOWN MIDDLETOWN

This Saturday, October 17th, Middletown Recreation will host its annual Downtown Trick or Treat event on Main Street!

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE:
Main Street will be CLOSED between Dingwall Drive and Court Street from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Motorists traveling through downtown Middletown should expect traffic delays, plan ahead, and seek alternate routes.

Please use caution, remain alert for pedestrians, and follow all posted detours and traffic directions.

The Middletown Police Department appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation as we help keep this family friendly event safe and enjoyable!

From garage doors to dinner reservations, 489 Main Street has seen quite a transformation.

In the historic image, F. L. Caulkins Garage stands behind Frederick L. Caulkins and Fire Chief George Pitt, seated in a 1913–1916 Federal Motor Co. chemical engine. This photo captures the critical transition era from horse-drawn fire wagons to fully motorized municipal departments. Today, the same address is home to another memory-making spot, Luce Restaurant & Bar.

It’s one of the things we love about Downtown Middletown: the storefronts keep changing, but the stories stay layered into the street.

Arnie’s Art Cafe is opening in the historic Number 2 Firehouse building on College Street in Middletown, CT.

It will feature locally brewed coffee and tea, locally baked goods, along with a yummy in-house menu combined with an art-heavy atmosphere.

There will be 4 local artists showing their micro galleries and the art will rotate with new creators every 3 months.

Along with a beautiful first floor cafe space the owner has transformed the top floor into a fully functional art studio. There will be multiple classes taught monthly by local artists in a variety of mediums including hand sculpted and hand thrown pottery. They are also working on starting book clubs and writers meet-ups.

Arnie’s vision is that anyone can walk in off the street and relax with a coffee and enjoy the beautiful artworks or purchase a ready-to-do craft they can lounge around and create.
