DEER ALERT!

With the arrival of cooler weather, we see a large increase in deer movement and activity over the next 2-3 months. In addition to cooler weather, it is also mating season (rut) and shorter daylight length also triggers hormonal responses in deer that cause more activity. Be careful on the roads this fall!

Car vs Deer accidents historically peak in late October through much of November here in Michigan.

Tis the season, again! The best way to prevent these guys from making their presence felt inside this winter, is to treat the house now. Thanks to these cooler nights, the calls started just last week for stinkbugs and box elders. Reach out to learn more, or to discuss how we can help.

This invasive insect is known to seek winter shelter in large numbers, attempting to enter homes without an invitation each fall.

AGGRESSIVE BEE WATCH!

Has anyone else noticed they're EXTRA spicy right now? Yellowjackets, paper wasps, and bald-faced hornets are reaching that late-season phase where colonies are large, food sources are changing and they can become a whole lot more noticeable around people. Some are minding their buzzness, some woke up and chose to harass you, but A LOT of them? Running is a valid option!

We’re officially BOOKED for our fall bat season! 🤯

With that, we thought it was the perfect time to introduce a new logo highlighting a major part of what we do.

We are incredibly passionate about bat work and so proud to offer it, so it only felt fitting to give this part of our business a little something of its own.

Our original logo isn’t going anywhere and will continue to represent all of the wildlife removal services we offer — you may just start seeing this one around a little more!

For those who already have an inspection scheduled with us, those will still be completed as planned, and we’ll discuss fall availability with you individually.

We’re so thankful for everyone who has trusted us this bat season and helped fill our fall schedule. We hope you love the new additional logo as much as we do! 🦇

SEASONAL CHANGES IN MICHIGAN COME WITH MORE THAN JUST WEATHER SWINGS!

As late summer turns to fall, you may start noticing a few more 8-legged visitors around your home. Cooler nights, shorter days and changes in insect activity can make some spiders more noticeable this time of year.

Most of Michigan's outdoor spiders aren't packing their bags and moving inside for the winter. Many are perfectly adapted to stay outdoors, but some species, including yellow sac spiders, may move into homes and other protected spaces in late summer and fall. Others may simply wander inside while looking for food or shelter.

Most of Michigan is still in the "Not Yet" stage, but farther north...they're starting to knock. As fall settles in, eventually they may have the keys.

So proud to introduce our 2nd hire to KEEN Pest Control!! My man Brody is joining us on a part time basis until he resumes playing baseball and school at Aquinas, and then is planning on reuniting with us next spring. Another solid young fella and hire, who comes from a great family. Brody and David have helped us reach a lot of our goals already, and I am so proud of the high character team that we're developing here at KEEN Pest Control. Couldn't have done it without all the support, encouragement, business, and referrals from my friends and family. We have a long ways to go before we have things running the way we want them to be, but we're trying pretty hard.

So much to be thankful for!

After a long, hot week of working hard and serving our customers, I decided to have David cut out early, and we celebrated our great nation and Independence Day with some well deserved C's Pizza & BBQ...the best bbq around Gun Lake! Thankful for our imperfect, but great, country we live in. God bless the USA. So much to be thankful for.
