2021 MEMORIES
As we say goodbye to 2021 and welcome 2022, I wanted to share with you a memory from this year that had significant impact on The Organized Effect. This memory will propel our efforts into 2022 with renewed purpose.
I walk into the room to see a woman sitting on a couch in tears. My stomach clenches and my heart aches for her, but I know that this is exactly where she needs to be. In front of her are piles upon piles of papers, clothes, shoes, books, pictures from when she was young with her family - everything you could think of sitting in chaotic stacks against the walls and scattered across the floor. Three full rooms of clutter and blocked energy.
I take a deep breath and let it out slowly before kneeling down to give her a hug. "I'm so sorry," I say softly as I run my hand through her hair. "I know this process is overwhelming, but it's going to be okay."
The reality was though that there was no easy fix for what we were dealing with. I wouldn't call her a hoarder, but I would say that the years of neglecting to control the clutter was devasting. Depression, hopelessness, and solitude had been her way of living for years. She felt there was no way out...until she called us.
Three days...to the rest of her life.
Three days of hard work and resolved determination to help her any way we could. Throughout the process she was physically functioning, but emotionally despondent and numb. The final product was a clean and organized space with positive energy flowing throughout. Still, she seemed gloomy and tired as we said our goodbyes.
Part of our process is to check in with a quick text a week later to make sure all energy blocks have been removed and to gauge the need for additional follow-up. We didn't hear from her for a week.
Her reply is pictured...and was the most rewarding proof that our belief in the domino effect of decluttering is completely life changing.
If you need help, don't wait for one day. If all you have is the energy to clean off a countertop or put the dishes away that have been piled up for weeks, then do just that - give yourself some grace.
'Now' is all we have - 2022 is only hours away. You deserve happiness, you deserve a clutter free space, and you deserve the magic of possibility!
Two months after the memory above and after years of hopelessness, depression and solitude, our client will be popping champagne at a party tonight!
