⚠️TW ‼️ Even before I became a doula, people would feel comfortable opening up to me about loss.

Things like this remind me that society does not hold space and reverence for maternal pain.

So I’ll be louder for those who can’t speak up.

We’re in a post-Roe society.

The age of the remains were non viable.

This woman has a miscarriage, in her bathroom.

The default, for a natural process, cannot be criminal negligence.

A day she will never forget, made the news.

Who are we mad at?

Let’s send her love. Let’s send her healing.

Let’s collectively work for a day when this immaturity is not how we handle things, and instead of shame we can encircle loss with love.

Doula Cherise was sent to virtual court hearing, during labor, with no representation, for refusing a C-section… you read that right.

I’ve followed her page and personally donated to fund her lawsuit. From her latest update looks like Jacksonville has been served.

I had a lot to unpack with this one 🎒

Before I had kids I could watch things on TV, and it wasn’t real. I didn’t have any skin in the game.

But having life here… I feel responsible, accountable. We are the shapers of the world they will inherit.

A lot of my personal work has been leaning into women trusting their intuition.

But I’m learning that intuition is meant to guide — yourself.

And we are fighting over who gets to hold universal truth

On things that are still to be determined.

Right now, they are feelings.

A lot coming to the surface… on all sides.

I do feel that society can heal these collective wounds.

I do have hope that we are in the age to do it

But it won’t be by jumping on board with fear-based mindset for the sake of content

And doing so can cause more pain in an already greatly suffering situation.

The only thing I know for sure…

Is whatever this is telling YOU, about how you want to be better and show up in society, for families, for mothers, is valid 🙏🏻

How do you raise healthy masculine in a culture that’s intimidated by softness?

In couples counseling I learned about the concept of a “bid.” It is an offer of a chance to connect. Many bids accepted = great relationship. Many bids missed = 🎮 prob game over.

When I was painting my toenails 💅🏼super pregnant with my daughter, my son wanted to paint his too.

Not because it’s feminine. But because our whole WORLD was about to change. A world that had mostly been him and me. And he saw a moment to connect.

He wanted a $5 baby doll from HEB when I was pregnant to practice taking care of a baby…

Not because it’s feminine. But because one day he wants to be a good DAD.

And one day he is going to be a partner chilling in the couch with someone he loves and do her toenails 💚

Girls want love like the movies but beat every loving thing out of their sons that’s not football or motocross. That’s what trauma does. It gets in the way of love. You have to unpack your s*** and see what you are passing on.

He’s the most rough and tumble, boyish BOY. But is also secure in himself, and learning how to love.

New logo 🤗 I had a drawing of Ixchel on my original business cards, Mayan goddess of the moon and midwifery 🌕 and my daughter’s middle name.

Turns out, people do not like drawings of b***s. Even cartoon ones. On business cards. Touching it makes them uncomfortable. And they may or may not put them on display 👀

That’s okay. I’ll just keep whipping them out in public for exposure therapy 🍋🍋 and encouraging other moms to do the same.

Here’s the new logo, with my LLC. What I bring to postpartum services are easy-to-digest whole foods to help the body heal, a growing apothecary of herbal knowledge, updated study-based baby care advice, lactation assistance, relationship dynamics, body wraps, CBD cream on aches and pains, massages while you pump.

✨Unpopular opinion ✨ I had a strong desire after both my postpartum experiences to go out and get a tattoo ✍️
I’ve heard from WOMEN an urge to reclaim their bodies postpartum.
Sometimes this can be a liberating haircut 💅🏼
For me, it was getting tattoos 🫟
You’ve spent almost a year growing someone inside you
To be nursed and snuggled for probably anther year to come.
It’s like a second puberty… b***s are different, stomach, hips.
For me, getting a tattoo is something that says, “This is my body and I decide what happens.”

My first OBGYN told me something that stuck with me, when I asked about whether I could do coffee or not… “We have to think about the women’s experience.” And that is something I believe has been so horribly lost on us.

The major risk is infection. You want to make sure your artist is licensed and familiar. They may have you sign an extra waiver. But, studies have deducted that tattoo ink is too large to go into milk blood supply. 🤷🏻‍♀️
