This week marked 5 years in business for Circle G Designs. I had hoped to put together some kind of beautifully inspiring video compilation of all the work that we've done this far - but frankly, this week was another reminder that small business ownership isn't always beautiful and inspiring.
This week was filled with missteps and miscommunications, navigating challenging work relationships, and more. My trusty minivan broke down on the side of the highway. I accidentally locked my purse inside a property. I've felt constantly behind and overwhelmed.
But I try to remember that I am where I wished to be 5 years ago. I'm busy, but I have the flexibility to meet up with a friend for chips and queso on a whim. I can go to my kids' checkup without having to ask someone else for permission. I work 120 hours a week, but on my own terms 😂
I also wouldn't be anywhere without the support of my friends and family, my incredible clients, my real estate partners, and all of the amazing people who have jumped in by my side to carry furniture and do all the other things that make Circle G what it is. Special shout out to Patrick for rescuing me from the side of the road this week and for retrieving my purse so I could go home and crawl into a hole.
I'm excited for all that the future has in store. Over the last two years, our staging inventory has significantly expanded. We're working on setting up systems that will allow for more efficient planning and loading, as well as systems to help automate workflow and reminders. We're also working on improved scheduling systems and expanding our team to help serve our design, organizing, and staging clients in a more timely fashion.
I also hope to find more ways to prioritize downtime for myself and my family. This week has also highlighted the physical toll of stress - I really appreciate your patience and support as I navigate the blessing that is a growing business ❤️
P.S. by the way, let me know if you know a good business coach! I'm looking for someone with an excellent business acumen who can look objectively at my business and my books and tell me what to prioritize. Bonus points for anyone who loves the "woo"!
