As the year comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
This year marked our first full year of Rescue Recycle accepting nationwide mail-in electronics. Our focus has stayed the same: keeping devices out of landfills, putting usable ones back into circulation, and supporting animal welfare.
In addition to mail-in donations, we hosted community electronics recycling events in Hemphill—together keeping 8,100 lbs. of electronics out of the waste stream.
Through our mail-in program, 412 non-refurbishable devices were responsibly recycled through R2-certified processing.
Much of our work happened out of sight this year - sorting, testing, and refurbishing devices to put them back into use. In total, 120 devices were restored and resold, keeping valuable electronics in circulation and out of landfills.
One of our proudest milestones came in September, when we made our first donation to an animal welfare organization, something that’s always been at the heart of Rescue Recycle.
As we head into the holidays, we’re incredibly thankful for everyone who donated devices, attended an event, shared our mission, or cheered us on.

Meet Nix, or as he’s sometimes called, Nixie or Nixon when he’s feeling extra refined! This sweet little gentleman is full of personality. He’s affectionate and loves cuddles, but also playful and energetic, especially when chasing his favorite toy spring.
Nix was the runt of his litter, but that never slowed him down, he’s always been bold, friendly, and full of heart. He enjoys cozy naps in front of a warm stove and gets along wonderfully with dogs and even our older cat (he’s very respectful of his elders!).
Nix is such a special kitty, deeply loved by his foster family, and he’s so ready to find his forever home, someone who will be his best friend and lifelong companion. 🐾🩵

Thanks to everyone who came out to our E-Waste event! We collected 1,800 lbs of electronics and delivered it to STS Electronic Recycling, Inc. in Jacksonville for responsible processing. ♻️

🐾 Foster kittens ready for adoption! 🐾

We are fostering two adorable kittens through Happy Tails Adoption Center - HTAC Shelby County Animal Shelter and they’re ready to find their forever homes! 💛 They’ve had their first round of shots and are full of love and adorable kitten energy.
If you’re interested, contact Happy Tails and mention the kitten’s name and that they are being fostered.

✨ Quick reminder: Spaying and neutering your pets is so important! It helps prevent overpopulation, keeps cats and dogs healthier, and reduces the number of animals ending up in shelters.

Our 2025 Mail-In Impact So Far! 📦💚

Thanks to everyone who’s sent in devices to RescueRecycle.com!

Here’s what we’ve accomplished together:
• 62 shipments received
• 109 lbs. of non-refurbishable devices safely recycled
• 107 devices refurbished and given a second life
• 80 refurbished devices sold
• $1,000 donated to animal shelters

Rescue Recycle’s First Donation Day! 🐾
Today was such a special milestone. Thanks to everyone who has mailed in their phones and handheld electronics since we launched earlier this year, Rescue Recycle was able to make our very first donation and it went to a place doing truly meaningful work: The Sabine Animal Shelter in Many, LA. 💛
We donated $1,000 total $500 from Rescue Recycle with an owner match to double the impact. These funds will go directly toward their spay/neuter program, which provides 25 vouchers each month to help families get their pets spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against rabies. It’s a simple step that prevents countless unwanted litters and helps keep more animals out of shelters.
The heart behind Rescue Recycle comes from experiences like many of you have had, seeing animals dumped, abandoned, or overlooked, and knowing they deserve better. That’s why we created a program that not only reduces e-waste, but also gives back to the causes that matter most.

♻️ Save the Date! Our Next Electronics Recycling Event is Coming This Fall!
Join us Saturday, October 18, 2025 for our next community recycling event in Hemphill!
It’s your chance to safely and responsibly recycle your old electronics — for FREE*
*New this time: Broken Flat Screen TV's carry a $10 recycling fee per unit to help cover the cost of certified recycling. Fully working Flat Screen TV's are no cost to recycle.
Please note: We are not accepting CRT TVs or monitors. (The box style ones)
Rescue Recycle is a nationwide mail-in program specializing in small electronics like phones and tablets. Refurbishable devices are given a second life, and a portion of those proceeds support animal welfare causes.
For this event, we’re going beyond our typical scope to help the community recycle larger electronics — including TVs and printers — with the help of an R2-certified partner, helping fill the gap where local recycling options are limited.
We’ll also be accepting phones and tablets, which directly support our core mission.

Rescue Recycle Impact Update ✨📦

Since launching our mail-in program, we’ve received 40 shipments from generous supporters across the country! 🙌

Of the items collected:
🔹 75 lbs of non-refurbishable devices were responsibly recycled
🔹 48 devices were given a second life through repair and resale — helping fund our mission to support animal welfare 🐾💚

We’re proud that every working device we resell helps reduce e-waste and gives back. Even though we only began receiving device donations in January 2025, we’re already nearing our first donation milestone to a local animal shelter! 💸🐶
