Happy National Hippo Day! This is the gift we got my son on our last trip through Spain’s wine region. He loves hippos and he named this one, Haro the drunk hippo, in honor of Haro, Spain where we bought it and well, he looks as drunk as we were when we were there!

What is not only the most incredible wine festival to attend but happens this year and not again for another generation? Fete des Vignerons, July 18 to August 11 in Switzerland. Thought to have started in 1647, it only happens once a generation. Amazing experience, unforgettable gift for a wine lover.

Every year we celebrate the end of a great hockey season by having the coaching staff over for dinner. This peewee year dinner started with some mussels and lobster sashimi, meandered through some wagyu ribeye with mushroom pasta, then to desserts and telling hockey stories until 2am. I think we did a great job on the wine!

Love this wine cellar! Finished the night with a 100 year port tasting of a 10 year, 20 year, 30 year, and a 40 year tawny. Saw the $30,000 double mag that they “found” in their collection a few years ago. You know you have a serious collection when you need to use the Dewey decimal system to organize your wines!
