As we pause this Memorial Day to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, we also wish everyone a safe and meaningful holiday weekend. 🇺🇸

Please note that Working Partners will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

As organizations prepare for the holiday weekend, this is also a great opportunity to reinforce Drug-Free Workplace policies and safety expectations — especially for on-call employees and safety-sensitive positions. Clear communication, policy consistency, and workplace awareness help protect your employees, your company, and your community.

✔️ Review on-call expectations
✔️ Reinforce workplace safety policies
✔️ Prepare supervisors for reasonable suspicion situations
✔️ Support a safe and compliant return to work after the holiday

We are grateful for those who served and sacrificed, and we remain committed to helping organizations maintain safe, healthy, and compliant workplaces year-round.

Wishing you a safe and reflective Memorial Day weekend.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a timely reminder to take a closer look at your Drug-Free Workplace program. Are your employees truly supported?

At Working Partners®, we understand that substance use and mental health challenges can impact even your most valuable team members. That’s why we advocate for Second Chance Agreements when appropriate—because sometimes the best solution is not to remove the person, but to address the problem.

A Second Chance Workplace approach can help retain talent, reduce turnover costs, and foster a culture of accountability, support, and recovery. While this approach may not fit every organization, many businesses find it to be a powerful tool when implemented thoughtfully and compliantly.

If you’re ready to explore whether your workplace can support second chance opportunities, Working Partners® is here to help guide you.

The recent federal rescheduling of certain ma*****na products from Schedule I to Schedule III marks a major shift in U.S. drug policy.

While this change recognizes medical uses for cannabis, it does NOT eliminate employer rights to maintain drug-free workplace policies. Employers can still prohibit on-the-job impairment, conduct drug testing, and enforce safety standards — especially in safety-sensitive industries.

As ma*****na laws continue to evolve, businesses should review policies, educate employees, and stay informed to ensure workplace safety and compliance.

🚨 Breaking: DOJ Reschedules Certain Ma*****na Products

On April 23, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice officially moved FDA-approved ma*****na products and state-licensed medical ma*****na to Schedule III.

This is a significant federal shift—but it’s not what many headlines are making it seem.

Here’s what employers need to know:
✔ Certain medical ma*****na products are now Schedule III
❌ Ma*****na as a whole is still federally illegal (Schedule I)
❌ No changes to your workplace policy or drug testing program

“This action supports medical research while maintaining strict federal controls.”

What this means for your business:
*Continue enforcing your drug-free workplace policy
*Continue your drug testing program as is
*Do not make changes based on headlines

Bottom line:
This is a partial change—not legalization—and broader decisions are still pending.

Working Partners® is monitoring this closely and will keep you updated as more develops.
