With the new year comes new laws!! We will we posting some new ones for insurance claims that you need to be aware of:

Assignment of Benifits (AOB):

Senate Bill 2A now states:
1. Prohibits the assignment,in whole or in part, of any post loss insurance benefit under any residential property insurance policy or under any commercial property insurance policy issued on or after January 1, 2023.

2. This means that assignment of benefits are no longer an option to be used in property insurance claims. You are unable to sign over your insurance benefits to a third party if your policy is issued on or after January 1, 2023.

Tip for the day:

If you know anyone impacted by Hurricane IAN reminder them that there is a current 2.8 million claims that will be placed, with the current insurance issue in Florida most companies are going to delay and move to litigation if they don’t file bankruptcy!

Do Not sign an AOB with the promise of a free this or that. Document everything and watch who you sign with including Public Adjusters!
