One of the reasons this course is so effective is I designed it to be done over four weeks, so that the students have a chance to get messy with the learning, make mistakes, and learn from it.

Being supported on the journey in my experience is the force multiplier if the knowledge sticks.

Checking a box in 48 hours may make HR happy, but it won't make the people counting on those to lead, more enabled to succeed in the workplace.

📈 Ready to step into a leadership role? Our "From Staff to Supervisor: Earn Trust, Stay Confident, Deliver Results" course is designed for new and emerging supervisors looking to lead with confidence. Learn practical strategies to set clear expectations, build strong relationships, and develop effective leadership habits that help you succeed in your first year and beyond.

It's Sunday afternoon, and I have my list in hand. I prepare myself to walk through the doors and crowds to do the weekly ritual of grocery shopping.

Woodman's and Aldi's are the go-to shops, and unless the Packers are playing, the store is packed.

Every store has a smell, and it is always amazing how they figure out how to do so; it's the same at every store.

Normally, I go in, focus, and get it done, but this day was different because as I was walking down the Health food aisle for my red lentil pasta, and I had a revelation.

Why didn't someone tell me about this a long time ago?
Why is it in aisle 26 and not the pasta aisle?
Why is it that the best options always seem hidden?
At 40, these things should already be common knowledge.

Then it hit me 🤦🏻‍♂️

Most people walk down the pasta aisle their entire life without ever even knowing there is a super food pasta with 25 grams of protein per serving and only one ingredient.

Then it clicked! This is how family, life, career, and even entrepreneurship work.

Most men live the same way.
We walk the same predictable aisle we grew up with.
We keep repeating the version of “normal” we inherited, no matter how messed up it was.
We don’t question anything because… we don’t know what we don’t know.

Then I zoomed out and realized

This is what the enemy wants!

They don't want you to know that,

success does not require sacrifice at home.
your faith and conviction will not heal on its own.
your marriage will not fix itself later.
peace is possible before the next goal.
wanting more at home does not mean wanting less at work.
your kids are only this age once!

The enemy is at the gates brother, and it has you blinded to what choices you really have. You keep walking past the aisles because you only know what you know based on someone else's normal.

Time won't make it go away, brother, time is what the enemy is counting on you throwing away!

Don't wait another minute before it is too late, send me a DM.

The phone rings. It is 8:32 in the morning. I answer, and the person says, “my generator cranks but won’t start.”

I had taken that call before, but the tension in his voice told me this one was not going to be like the others.

We had the procedures. We had the flow charts. But he said, “I checked everything, but it still won’t start.”

I take a breath, gather my thoughts, and trust my intuition.

I ask, “have you checked gas pressure?”

He says, “yep 8 inches of water column.”

I ask, “What does it do when you try starting?”

He says, “You won’t believe it, that sucker drops right to zero.”

I ask, “Real quick, what size pipe is that going in?”

He replies, “ya know, standard 1/2 inch pipe, plumber said it was how he does all of these.”

In that moment, I realized he was missing an entire world he knew nothing about. Volume. A generator depends on a steady flow of gas at a consistent pressure. He not only had the wrong pipe size, but he also had the wrong regulator. He was set up for failure from the start.

He did not have an engine problem.

He had a gas supply problem outside of the generator.

It was such a common mistake that in all my years of troubleshooting generators, it made up an outsized share of the calls.

I never forgot that call, or the ones that came after, because it taught me a core principle in leadership and coaching.

Most strategies fail before they start because they are built on what is seen, not what is unseen.

It is not what we can see that holds us back. It is what sits in the silent void.

A hundred and fifty years ago, an economist explained an idea now known as the Broken Window Fallacy.

A shopkeeper’s window breaks.

The crowd says, “At least it helps the glassmaker.”

What they do not see is what could have been done with that same money if the window had never been broken.

That is the unseen cost.

The hidden opportunity.

The part of the story that leaders never measure.

In leadership, it works the same way. We celebrate new initiatives, restructures, and culture campaigns, yet rarely calculate what is quietly lost in the process. Heart. Trust. Momentum.

Then there is the 80/20 principle. Eighty percent of your results come from twenty percent of your effort, but what if the real twenty percent is not visible at all? What if it lives in the questions you never thought to ask?

That is the space I work in.
Not fixing what is broken.
But revealing what is hidden.
Not chasing new strategies.

Uncovering the leverage that quietly changes everything.

My career started in troubleshooting systems. Today, I troubleshoot people and culture. I help leaders find the hidden question that unlocks their real problem.

Because the best leaders do not just measure progress.

They discern it.
Curious what’s hidden in your leadership strategy right now? Let’s talk.

To all my fellow Americans, we didn’t just serve, protected an idea.

Not everyone came home from that service, but some of the ones who did are still at war, just in their mind.

When you see a Veteran today, don’t thank us for our service.

Tell us Welcome Home, you might just save a family and kids will grow up with mom and dad.

If you are a Veteran Dad and didn’t come home in your mind, I have linked my podcast Military Veteran Dad in the comments. Over 400 episodes of stories and wisdom to help you cross that boundary.

I saw a stat today that stopped me in my tracks.

79% of employees are disengaged.

That’s four out of five people showing up, but not bought in.

Gallup’s new data confirmed what I’ve seen inside teams for years:

people aren’t lazy or burned out…
they don’t have clarity

Clarity is what drives engagement.
When people don’t know how their work connects to the mission, performance quietly slips.

Leaders who get this don’t “motivate.”
They align.
They coach for ownership.
They create systems that make performance sustainable again.

If that’s the kind of culture you want to build, the kind that outlasts burnout, I’d love to connect.
