It's National Forage Week! We’re recognizing how forages keep operations productive from feeding livestock to protecting soil and supporting pollinators.

Did you know?
✔ Forages cover over half of U.S. land
✔ Legumes, like alfalfa, build soil fertility
✔ One acre of forage protects millions of pounds of soil

To celebrate National Safety Month, we’re sharing a few simple, high‑impact safety tips:

✔ Stay back from the silage face and use the right tools and safety equipment when sampling or removing covers
✔ Move animals calmly and predictably, understanding their flight zones
✔ Be seen! High‑visibility vests and good lighting help prevent accidents
✔ Dress for the job. Properly fitting clothing, gloves and footwear go a long way
✔ Take care of yourself. Water, food, rest, sunscreen — your body is a key part of farm safety
✔ Keep young children supervised and in designated play areas away from machinery, traffic paths, livestock, and water or manure storage
✔ Look out for one another. Keep training ongoing and encourage everyone to speak up when something doesn’t look safe

Safety isn’t a one‑day reminder. It’s a commitment we build together, every day.

Drop a 👍 if you’re sharing these tips with your team this month!

The AAAP Student Chapter at the Ohio State University recently welcomed Audrey Sacy and Erin Carter for a quick look at Lallemand and how microbial solutions help support poultry health—starting in the gut, where much of a bird’s immune system is active.

Thanks to the students for the great questions and energy!

Not all probiotics are the same — and the label can tell you a lot about what you’re actually feeding your horse.

Just like horse breeds were selected for different jobs, microorganisms are selected for specific roles in the digestive system. A Quarter Horse and a Clydesdale are both horses, but they’re built for very different purposes.

And just like certain bloodlines within a breed are known for specific strengths, individual microbial strains perform differently too.

If you're feeding a probiotic — or considering one — take a moment to check the label. Reputable feed and supplement manufacturers will declare probiotics within the ingredient list with the specific strain, because that’s what researchers study and select for performance. If the strain isn’t listed, it’s harder to know exactly what’s included within the product.

In this quick guide, we’ll show four simple things to look for so you can feel confident you’re choosing a probiotic designed to truly support your horse’s gut health. 🐴
