The Historic Mitchell Street and surrounding neighborhoods is the heart of a densely populated, largely Hispanic area of Milwaukee’s near south side. The Mitchell Streets commercial district is one of Milwaukee’s oldest neighborhoods. Historic Mitchell Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53204. The Historic Mitchell Street Business Improvement District (BID #4) is a 16-block long district where a portion of th

e owner’s property tax is allocated to make their community safer, cleaner, and more vibrant. The tax is used by the BID to purchase services that supplement those already provided by the city, and are also used to help create a unified voice to advocate growth in the business district and it’s neighboring community. Working with the City of Milwaukee, the Mitchell Street BID is spearheading a new spirit of cooperation among property owners, businesses and the community by providing a range of services to improve management programs including maintenance, marketing, economic vitality and physical improvements. The Mitchell Street BID objective is designed to retain, to expand and to attract businesses and investors that will help improve the business districts environment. The desired outcome will be the re-establishment of a vital and stable retail area that will premier retail, business, cultural actives, and entertainment, all combined to make the Historic Mitchell Street a destination. Our Operations:
The West Historic Mitchell Street Business Improvement BID works year round to make this Historic area a unique, colorful and safe place to visit. The West Historic Mitchell Street Business Improvement BID offers maintenance services for the entire district including keeping the area clean, graffiti removal, and newly installed state of the art security cameras. The BID #4 team combs the district on a near daily basis, addressing all issues and taking note of possible improvements. These services create a safer and positive experience of all those who work in or visit the area. The BID continues it’s efforts in revitalizing the historic beauty and to maintain our retail vibrancy in this culturally diverse district. Economic Development:
The BID offers a range of services for existing businesses and businesses interested in joining our community. Some of the services include, information, research, and marketing. It also helps in creating positive event schedules, and other economic initiatives. These services help to open communication dealing with issues and ideas between the BID and its businesses, and create a feeling of community. West Historic Mitchell is an excellent opportunity for future businesses looking to expand or relocate.

Be sure to attend "Coffee With a Cop", MPD District 2 event at La Casa del Pan, 1100 W. Historic Mitchell Street, on Saturday, March 22nd, from 10:00 am to 12 Noon!!! Free coffee, and the opportunity to chat with D2 Officers!
Weather permitting, from Noon to 2 PM, Safe and Sound is hosting a spring clean-up on Historic Mitchell, beginning at 11th & Historic Mitchell Street. Plan to volunteer for the clean-up, if weather permits.
