First time in the U.S in three years!

So we got to spend the day with Harry and witness the courage! Insanity! Creativity! Of teams of five daring to fly one of their members off the end of the 22' platform into Lake Michigan in their home-made contraptions. (The other team members were expected to jump off the platform into the water after it was determined the pilot was okay - they all were, btw!)
Not jumping meant doing the walk of shame off the platform, down the ramp.
(I think that alone would have kept me from entering...once I jumped off Black Rock on Maui. It took me thirty minutes to find my courage. Been there. Done that.)
The distance was measured by where the pilot's helmet hit the water.
Harry kindly got us media passes...which allowed us on the flight deck, back stage, and in the media boat that took us into the harbor.
I could easily become a Flugtag groupie.
It's been a very long time since I've had that much fun!

And just like that, I'm back in a red car! (Well, not actually JUST... it's been five years since I've had a red car and I had to wait four months to get this one.)

But it feels like home.
My first car was a red Mustang with a V8. People know me with a red car.

The last five years with a gray car were surreal...I can't tell you how many times I headed to the parking lot looking for my red car...

What does the perfect pair of shoes have to do with getting a job?

I’ve trained hundreds of sales reps in my career.

As the owner of a manufacturer’s rep agency for almost two decades, I trained hundreds of sales reps. That means I probably interviewed at least one hundred more…

One of my favorite interview questions started with this scenario:

You’re going to a wedding. You have your dress – or your suit – and now you need shoes.

You’ve set aside the entire day on Saturday to physically go to the mall to go shopping.

In the very first store, you try on the perfect pair of shoes.

Do you buy them and go home? Or, because you’ve set aside the entire day, you keep looking in case there’s something better out there?

Which would you do?

(Literally, I’d love to know! Please fill me in in the comments below.)

The ability to trust in yourself is valuable beyond measure. It takes practice and the willingness to take a leap of faith. The payoff is worth it.

Just to finish the story…any [potential] salesperson I interviewed who answered they would keep looking for the shoes, didn’t get the job.

In my opinion, decisiveness is crucial to the success of a salesperson.
