April Fools' Day has become an unintentional industry benchmark. This year, the feed was full of AI-generated announcements, fake milestones, and parody products that were genuinely hard to dismiss.

In 1957, Ullrich Automotive wrote to Brooks "Kip" Stevens with a bold ask, design a race car to take to Europe and compete.

That car never made it to the starting grid. So we decided to answer the letter anyway. Decades later, we’ve taken that original vision and brought it to life, in our own way. We designed and engineered modern day Brooks Stevens race car, using the tools and insight of today. Not a replica, but a continuation. A “what if” turned into “what is.”

We’ll be sharing the development along the way, sketches, engineering, and everything in between. Some ideas are just too good to stay in the archives.

Motorsports history is built not only on machines, but also the drivers. Rick will always be part of that chapter of our story.

Designing a vehicle like the Strickland Speedwagon starts long before sketching lines or building clay. It begins with listening, and asking the kinds of questions that others don’t.
This video captures moments from our early discovery phase with Strickland Motors, where we sat down to ask the team a mix of serious (and seriously fun) questions. These weren’t just icebreakers, they were tools to uncover the true character of the car.
For us, the interviews are essential. They help us align with the founders vision early on, cut down on design loops, and get straight to what this car wants to be.
Because when you're designing something built to last, and made to matter, you have to start with what’s true.
