Spent the last 2 days cleaning up this 5 acre hillside timber. It was steep and rough so the pace was slow, the trees were tight and the understory was thick with a lot of previously girdled trees laying on the ground. This is the 1st phase of cleaning this timber, the next step will be to girdle or hack and sq**rt the undesireable trees that couldn't be mulched. Opening up the tree canopy allowing sunlight to reach the ground and promote native browse and forbes to grow. The timber plan calls for a substantial thinning focusing on leaving the Oaks, Hickory, and Walnut with a few other species as well. Followed up with Prescribed fires to controll invase and unwanted regrowth. This will be a fun project to see take shape throughout the years.

Re worked a large parking lot this weekend. Used the power rake to work it all up, so it could be smoothed out and fill all the potholes in. Spread about 200 tons of gravel in a couple of spots, also fixed a soft spot by the dumpster pad by cutting out the bad soil/gravel and put a lot of oversized rock back in, topping it off with a ca6. The rain was great knocking the dust down so I could actually see when I was power raking

Austin helped me out last week mulching this 25+/- acre Pollinator field. It had a lot of Cottonwood trees growing in it, so we went in woth the mulcher to remove them. We will keep up the maintenance and try to spray any regrowth killing the roots. Cottonwood trees in a pollinators field is a constant battle.

Worked on a couple properties close to home this weekend. Cleaning up an overgrown driveway easement, and then mowing a freshly cleaned timber stand that became very overgrown with Ragweed and other undesireable weeds choking out the native forbes and browse.

Started some EQIP contract work on a property this weekend. The timber portion of the property is enrolled in the EQIP programs through the USDA/NRCS offices. I went through 1 block of the timber and removed the invasive vegetation with the skid steer and forestry mulcher. The next phases are going to be hand work, cutting trees down, girdling trees, hack and sq**rt etc. Trying to remove the undesirable and overcrowded trees and make this property as healthy as it can be and most beneficial for all the wildlife to enjoy. Might have got the skid steer temporarily stuck, but luckily ai could get my truck to it and the neighbor was nice enough to help me pull it out, so it wasn't too bad at all. Can't wait to work on the rest of the property and see the transformations and how this property shapes up.

Can't wait to have a shell completed so I can start the fun work of finishing the inside the way I want to!

Finished up some work on a roadside clean up project I did for Eminence Township the last few days. It was some fun work, got to meet some nice people and only had a few people decide to ignore the road closed signs or tell me that they were just plain going through where I was working. And surprisingly enough only had one incident with random metal clogging up my mulcher. I appreciate the folks in Eminence Township with trusting me to do their clean up work.
