A huge thank you to my generous clients & friends. 💛

Last week, nearly $1,300 worth of brand-new LEGO sets went out the door and to kiddos who are sheltering at home due to 🧊 in Minneapolis.

No one should have to hide in their homes, especially not children. My hope is that these sets offered a few hours of focus, creativity, and joy in the middle of a really difficult time.

Grateful for this community and the way you continue to show up. Keep it up.

Most of my work isn’t Pinterest-worthy.

Most days are spent opening boxes with clients, clearing shelves, and making thoughtful decisions.

Letting go of items you no longer need, use, or love isn’t easy for everyone, but it makes a difference for everyone. Even when a client lets go of just 20%, they feel lighter. Calmer. More at peace.

This is the work.

And..

The best way to declutter is to prevent stuff from coming into your home in the first place. Cancel those subscriptions (if I had a dollar…), make a list before you shop, borrow before you buy. There are so many ways to be intentional.

It’s been almost a week since I participated in this march. A collective demand that ICE leave our neighbors alone. That they stop terrorizing. Stop killing. Stop separating families. Stop. Stop.

I have never been more proud to be a Minnesotan and to live in South Minneapolis. We are stronger together.

As much as I love them, home organizing shows can give people the wrong impression. Taking days off work and tackling your whole home at once isn't realistic for most folks. Good news- it's not necessary!

Can you break your kitchen into zones and tackle just one this weekend? Can you assign your significant other the task of going through their old t-shirts and recycling the threadbare ones? You get the idea.

Consistent beats perfect every time and tiny organizing moments can add up to major results. You got this!

We donated the desk, recycled old manuals, and moved the monitor to storage (soon to be donated). She found a hutch she loves—and voilà… just look at this transformation!

The personal organization business as a whole has not done enough to facilitate ethical redirection of items and “stuff” that people no longer want or need. Additionally, we have marketed an idea that organization requires us to purchase MORE. More bins, shelves, and plastic dividers. What happens to the bins and containers that we already own? Shared Planet Home Organizing exists to bridge the gap between the good intentions of people and personal organizers and the undeniable problems our over-consumption has caused.

Together we will REDUCE unused, unloved, unhelpful things in your home and REDIRECT them to people and places who need them. We will REUSE bins, shelves, and other organizational tools you own or I acquire secondhand to REORGANIZE your things in a way that improves your day to day life.
