Come ye, come all to Community Unites to Combat Community Violence: Together We Heal: A Community Healing Experience Conference Addresses Prevention Strategies in North Minneapolis, MN on Thursday, July 18th.

In response to rising concerns about community violence, The Wellness Collaborative announces the inaugural Together We Heal: A Community Healing Conference, scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 18th at Capri in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This groundbreaking event aims to bring together community leaders, activists, policymakers, and residents to explore innovative strategies for violence prevention and intervention.

With recent incidents highlighting the urgent need for action, the Together We Heal: A Community Healing Conference seeks to spark meaningful dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders. From grassroots initiatives to policy advocacy, the conference will feature a wide range of topics, including:

• Identifying root causes of violence

• Strengthening community-police partnerships

• Supporting survivors and affected families

• Implementing trauma-informed approaches

• Promoting youth empowerment and mentorship

• Addressing systemic inequalities and social determinants

"We believe that by uniting our efforts and expertise, we can create safer and more resilient communities for all," says Brian Herron, Executive Director at The Wellness Collaborative. "The Together We Heal: A Community Healing Conference provides a vital platform for sharing best practices, fostering connections, and mobilizing collective action to address the complex issue of community violence."

Keynote speakers include Nekima Levy Armstrong, renowned experts in community advocacy in criminal and education justice, as well as local leaders with firsthand experience in community advocacy. Interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities will empower attendees to explore actionable strategies and collaborate on solutions tailored to their communities' needs.

The Together We Heal: A Community Healing Conference welcomes individuals and organizations committed to making a positive impact on community safety. Whether you are a frontline responder, policymaker, educator, healthcare professional, or concerned citizen, your voice and perspective are valuable in shaping the conversation and driving change.

About The Wellness Collaborative: This is a historic time, 17 organizations across the Twin Cities are coming together in agreement to work as a collaborative, to support, uplift, and heal together in unity. The Wellness Collaborative is committed to amplifying healing within our communities. We offer short-term, person-centered healing modalities that take into account the traumatic effects of oppression, violence, and conflict. By offering a wide range of trauma-informed services and training to the community to better enlighten them about trauma and help them develop wellness skills, we cultivate our work around holistic healing and health. When working with members of the local community, the legal system, and the church, we adhere to the principles of trauma informed care. We also use restorative techniques that will be applied to deal with both individual and group trauma. The Wellness Collaborative is a community based, culturally specific service for individuals, families, and communities who reside in or work either North Minneapolis, South Minneapolis, and St. Paul.

Keiona Cook is celebrating 15 years of founding and operating Lovely's Sewing & Arts Collective, which graciously teaches children to from our community to design and sew their own clothing. This morning, I had the opportunity to talk to the hosts of Living Local DMV (Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia) to discuss some of the civil rights gains that have been made, as well as the recent setbacks that have occurred.
