Don't forget to show up hungry when you attend the C**n Rapids
Rotary Fall Social on Thursday. We will have plenty of food to sample from Kendall's Tavern & Chophouse and Bunker Hills Event Center. To give you a taste of the menu (bad pun intended), we will have the meatball trio (a favorite for many), soft pretzels with cheese and mustard, multiple types of flatbreads, a new taco dip, and other items like fresh fruit and vegetables. We will also have your sweet tooth covered with a variety dessert shooters and homemade apple crisp. Tickets are still available online by visiting our event page or you can simply buy them at the door. Please join us on October 1st.

Rotary District 5960 Governor Nominee Peter Grayson visited our club today to share updates and to hear from us on how our club and the district can stay connected. He also took a moment to present club member Al Hamel with a Creating Impact Award for his dedicated service to our club and to Rotary International. Thank you District Governor Nominee Grayson for attending our meeting and congratulations to Al Hamel!

Bunker Hills Event Center

The Rotary Fall Social is less than two weeks away on Thursday, October 1st! Food, music, craft beer/beverages, silent auction, raffles, and games are all important pieces to our event, so we are going to feature each of these in the lead up to the big day. Today we are highlighting Small Town Radio and welcoming them back to our event. These guys do a great job of filling the room with fun music all night long. Tickets for the event are available through EventBrite on our event page, Rotary Fall Social, or can be purchased at the door.

Before we spend too much time on the "what" for the Rotary Fall Social, let's spend some time on the "why." The primary purpose of this event is to raise funds for programs at C**n Rapids High School - Center for Biomedical Sciences and Engineering. More specifically, this event raises money to pay for the annual Respect Retreat put on by Youth Frontiers. The retreat is a one-day, off-site event for all 9th grade students with the goal of providing the experience of what school would be like if everyone was respected, and to challenge them to respect themselves and others. Funding the Respect Retreat falls right in line with one of our Club's primary focuses, which is to support youth programs and youth leadership development. To that end, we stay closely connected to C**n Rapid High School and support the school however we are able. Recently, several Club members greeted students on their first day of class in an effort to show the students our support. Sweet summer flavors are officially here! 🍓 Mid-June marks the traditional start of berry picking season. Gather the family, grab your baskets, and head out to the local patches and produce stands around Anoka and Lino Lakes for the freshest, juiciest u-pick strawberries. There's nothing quite like a sun-warmed berry straight from the vine. Pro-tip: Call the patches ahead of time for daily picking conditions! ☀️

Meals on Wheels & More in Anoka County has been delivering meals in my community for over 50 years. They serve 350+ meals per day Monday through Thursday, and over 750 meals on Fridays. They serve all of Anoka County & Champlin and have 450+ clients.

The C**n Rapids Rotary Club is proud to partner with the organization each year to assist with delivering Meals on Wheels Blizzard Bags filled with non-perishable food items for their program participants living in our community.

My son Will and I had the privilege of attending the Pavek Museum’s Connecting Conversations lecture series on February 21st. My good friend Freddie Bell, KMOJ CEO and General Manager shared his vision behind the KMOJ forever home and discussed the theme “The Future Generation is Now.”

Former WCCO-TV Anchor Don Shelby served as the moderator for a question and answer session with Freddie Bell.

I have been truly honored for the opportunity to serve on the KMOJ Community Advisory Committee over the past 9 years.
