Targeted violence rarely occurs without warning.

Before the September 2 shooting in downtown Minneapolis, the alleged shooter had repeatedly threatened violence, displayed a fi***rm, identified specific targets, and demonstrated escalating grievances over a period of several months.

No single behavior predicted the attack. Together, however, they formed a recognizable pattern of concerning behavior that highlights the importance of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) in identifying and managing potential threats before violence occurs.
