Fun Fact - the 1st sports interview I ever did was with Niko Medved for GopherHole.com in 2006 when Dan Monson was fired, and Niko got promoted from a grad assistant to assistant coach. Here I am, almost 20 years later, and had the honor of covering Niko’s 1st press conference at the University of Minnesota as the new Head Coach. He says this is his dream job, well, he’s been my dream Gophers coach for many years. We are so lucky to have him, his wife Erica, and their girls. Real full circle moment 💛!

If you’d like more coverage from today’s exciting press conference, tune into Kare 11 tonight, as I’ll be on at 6:40pm, and check out ALL things Gophers Hoops here -> https://gopherhole.com/boards/forums/golden-gopher-basketball-forum.3/

I was honored to join my friend Vineeta Sawkar on WCCO Radio this morning for the first time!
We talked about:
- The College Women's basketball championship game pulling 18.9 million viewers vs. the Men's at 14.8 million...but received 99% less TV ad revenue
- Ant putting up 51 points last night in front of 50 Cent and the confidence we have in the Timberwolves
- The effects of NIL and the transfer portal on the Gophers...but getting Dawson Garcia back was a win!

Nadine Babu was up early to join Vineeta on The WCCO Morning News to talk about Anthony Edwards first career 50 point game, as the Wolves beat Washington. Plus NCAA tournament notes, and what is happening right now in Dinkytown. Find Nadine at www.gopherhole.com

6 days ago I had to put my sweet Goldie Girl down and she crossed the rainbow bridge. This was likely the worst day of my life, and it's still so hard to be at home. I want to thank Henry Lake for inviting me on WCCO to share my journey, and why I was so public with this loss on Twitter, IG and FB.

You hear that losing a pet is losing a family member...but it's losing your FAVORITE member of your family. The one who's had the purest form of love for you, that's never judged you, that's never held a grudge, that doesn't care what you look like, how much money you make, or what anyone else says about you. They see you as your truest self, and they love you every single second of the day unconditionally. I hope everyone finds this love. I was lucky to have found mind from a high kill shelter in Missouri, as she was at the end of her 3 month stay...and she proceeded to give me the best 11 years I could have ever imagined.

RIP Goldie Babu 2010-2024 💕

Henry Lake talks with Nadine Babu who recently made the decision to put her dog Goldie down, the emotions that went with it, how she was able to honor her and more.

Really honored to have my tweet featured on CNN, CBS News, BuzzFeed and other outlets...not because of myself, but because it shared a beautiful moment between two incredibly talented actors. I think often, one look or one comment can overshadow your character (like it did for Angela Bassett when she immediately didn't jump out of her seat for Jamie Lee Curtis)...but this seems to be her essence. A supportive, kind, motherly, and beautiful woman.

Angela Bassett plays a queen and mother in the "Black Panther" franchise and she was giving that energy Sunday night at the Academy Awards.

On Friday night I was covering the Timberwolves game and posted a photo of Pierre, the security guard that took down the protestor, (regardless of how you feel about the protesting, I think we can all agree we need to keep venues safe and can't have people rushing others, or the court). But I'm posting it here for a few lessons:

1. Anything you post/do can go viral. I'm just a regular person, not a celebrity, and to reach over 5 million people in 48 hours...I can't think of any company that wouldn't want that reach.

2. Post from your heart. I wanted to give Pierre (who I'd never met) kudos. He does his job every single day, very well, without recognition, so if if you see someone you'd like to recognize publicly, always do it (of course, with their consent, he posed for the photo).

3. Notice how many followers I got from this tweet? Hardly any. It says 4, but I'm up about 50 followers. It's not about putting out a viral tweet, it's about putting consistent content out there and being a resource for people.

4. If you put yourself out there, and post, build as thick of a skin as you can. I'd say 80-90% of people are really positive, but you have to let the other 10-20% go. It's just like anything else in life, focus on the positives.

5. Be genuine. I put up this tweet in about 20 seconds in between the way to the media room and the press conference. Have I gotten ripped for my verbiage? Of course. But I stand by what I said, and believe he deserves accolades.

Happy thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful for too many things to ever list…but professionally, I’m thankful to celebrate 10 years of Babu Social Networks.

A few things I’ve learned:
- Quality of life is more important than I ever thought. As a CSOM grad, I wanted to make the most money possible. Now I want to make enough to enjoy life but still be able to go boating on an 80 degree day in October (which is when my actual anniversary was).
- You don’t need to get your career choice correct the 1st time, or even the 10th time.
- Finding out what you don’t like is as important as finding out what you do like.
- Money comes and goes, being internally happy with your life is a constant.
- People always say “do what you love and the money will come,” and that’s not always true. But if you find something you love doing, you’ll be a lot less miserable when you’re going through poor stages.
- Quality of life is more important than I ever thought. As a CSOM grad, I wanted to make the most money possible. Now I want to make enough to enjoy life but still be able to go boating on an 80 degree day in October (which is when my actual anniversary was).
- Outsource things you hate/aren’t good at. I feel like when I was in corporate america, they always focused on your downfalls. For me, that’s administrative tasks…now I outsource whenever possible.
- Share the wealth. When I was in the red, I still made my interns lunch when I couldn’t pay them. The second I got paid, they did too. People will be amazingly loyal when you give them whatever you can vs. them having to negotiate for a fair wage.
- Beyond pay, be kind. You can give honest feedback, tell someone how they fell short, and how to correct it…but delivery is everything.

Thank you to Tiffany Richardson for having me speak to her AMAZING class at Seattle University's Albers School of Business and Economics. I planned for an hour, it took two because of how engaged her students were, and asked so many excellent questions. Extremely impressed!!! You are an amazing influence, Tiffany.
