Friends! I'm always thankful for the inventive minds out there!

My friend, Melissa Smith, has created an incredible ASL app. I've never seen anything like it. This is like kind of combination game, and educational/skill building app. I see all kinds of applications for Deaf and hard of hearing kiddos and adults, as well as hearing ASL users and learners. There is no fee, so I hope you'll download it and check it out. Your support in getting this noticed goes far, too, I think. 5-star ratings also attract attention. Let's send it out with some love. Please send it out to your communities. I'm excited! Go Melissa!

It’s completely free to download and play!

Workshops: In 2020, the idea came to me to play with the way I offer workshops. To get approved for ceus, naturally I have to have learning objectives and yet nothing says how exactly I have to satisfy those objectives. What I know about coaching, adult education and transformation is that when the answers come from within, they are much more beneficial. I like to find our way through deep conversation. So it has been with the Deeper Dive workshops.

My friend Jen Kagan and I are teaming up to offer Managing the Monster in your Mind on Thursday, December 7th at 5pm Central time. If you are interested in a facilitated discussion (a deeper dive) where your experience is valued and we tap your imagination to rearrange they way you treat yourself, please let me know. Space is very limited (8 people max). First come first served. We can add more workshops in December if there is interest. This one is in English, but we're excited to offer one in ASL should Deaf monsters need taming.

When researching peer support for a virtual workshop at PCRID next month, I found a logo I made that I totally forgot about. I love when that happens.

Some of us spend a lot time in our personal or professional life garnering certain mental and emotional energies, or perspectives. Interpreters, coaches, clergy, caregivers and therapists, for example, have to learn to set aspects of themselves to the side in some ways, in service of others. What we do repeatedly, our brains will eventually specialize in this set-aside. The brain is wired for efficiency and will mylenate the neural pathways that are used over and over again to make them easier and quicker to travel.

I bring my whole self to my work as a coach, and still, I am checking my urges, opinions and agenda in order to clearly see and hear my clients. In order to stay whole and stay aware of me and mine, of who I am, I try to stand in the extremes of who I am in between sessions. I will do things to be with my edgy, outspoken and opinionated self. As an empathic person, who learned from an early age to care about you more than me, that has never come naturally to me. Stretching into those edgy places keeps me aware of who I am so I don't get lost in the worlds of others.

I wonder what others do to stay in touch with themselves and not acclimate to a smaller version of themselves.
