Another email about the book...
The book was a joy to read. Although most of the pages are a tad moist from falling tears your pages filled my heart with hope and sincere appreciation that there are people in this world like you two...and those who support the effort. Even if I were not a rider I would understand and the breadth and commitment in your heart that carried you through the journey. The comfort you give to those you meet surely provides the respect and kindness you bestow upon them. You provide insight to the cross section of people living in the US. Those who would go a mile out of their way to help you and those who tailgate you through life thinking only of themselves. I have been published in scientific journals and know how challenging it can be. You should be proud of all you have accomplished and the book is very well written and keeps the reader engaged looking forward to the next page.
I returned back to the world in 1969. California was anything but welcoming to military....Pendleton was our only haven. I’m sure you know how we were treated and our stories. To this day when someone says “thank you for your service”. I respond “wish I had known you fifty years ago”.
Please accept my sincere appreciation for what you do...and for making the notation in my book. I will cherish it forever. Am sure I’ll read it many more times.
