Starman Press design, illustration, and screen printing by Andy Schmidt So busy that I usually print my work in the middle of the night while everyone sleeps.

I used to call my printing operation the Kitchen Press, cause I started out screen printing on my own taken what I had learned from a high school printmaking class and printing hand cut designs on an ironing board in my kitchen. Well I've learned a few things about designing and printing since then, and I've moved out of the kitchen into a busy screen printing shop. The night time is the right time.

Posters for L’Rain at the McGuire Theater at the Walker Art Center tonight, like right now. Posters are at the bar on the 2nd floor after the show.

This design used 4 screens, and 2 of them are split fountains. Mixed edition of 55 on 3 different kinds of paper: French night shift blue, Cougar plum, and Aspire Petallics navy. 18x24

If you’re in the area, swing by. Aisle 300, on the way to the south side eats and cans. We’re here Saturday and Sunday til 7:00. If you’re not in the area, hop on a plane and get here. It is not a stressful time to fly at all. You can probably pay for flight back and cover the costs of everything you bought at the convention with some gambling winnings. I will teach you roulette and the art of the sports parlay. Naz Reid is going to score at least 12 points and get 6+ rebounds vs the Nuggets. It’s my lock of the night.

Test print Tuesday twofer for y’all today.

The first one combines layers from Tame Impala (2015) + David Cross & Co + Floating Points. Sometimes a test print only needs a few layers to be “done”

Number 2 = Floating Points + Marvin Gaye art print + Kurt Vile (2019) + Snail Mail (2019)

New posters for and Violators performance today at Bumbershoot music festival in Seattle.
This design is based on Kurt’s songs Beach on the Moon and Back to Moon Beach. I pictured Kurt strumming under the stars and imagining some astronauts chilling doing the same thing in space.

This print is a 2 color print, 18x24, with an edition of 76. 50 of them on French blacktop paper, 13 on French night shift blue, 13 on cans on eggplant purple.

These posters will be available in my booth at the exhibit in the Armory on the festival grounds, until we close up shop tonight, right before Kurt and the Violators take the Fisher Stage at 7:00

Flatstock 97 at Bumbershoot is in full swing. If you’re in Seattle and at the festival and into screen printed gig posters, stop by the armory and have your mind blown by all the artists that are set up here along with me.
I made some new posters for Kurt Vile & the Violators performance at the fest (but more about that tomorrow) as well as all of my other KV designs. I also brought some old Freddie Gibbs and Kim Gordon prints (who are also performing at the festival), some newish hats and tees, and the rest of my greatest hits and misses from my poster collection are on display as well. Hello internet,
I am pleased to share with you my pieces for the Dano Brown Presents: Nuggets Only 2, happening tonight at Toy de@Joir in Chicago. This gave me the incredible opportunity to combine my enjoyment of chicken nuggets, toys, basketball, and puns.

From left to right, my nuggets are Scottie Dippen, Chick Van Exel, and Nuggsy Bogues.

I combined some sports toys from the 90s, Starting Lineups and Headliners, with some Sculpey, and with the help of some tiny screws and super glue, I made these. I hope they bring more smiles than they do nightmares.

All 3 NBA nuggets will be on display and for sale tonight, as well as a limited amount of tees that I printed with Dano’s nuggets print on them. The show starts at 7:00 pm at Toy de Jour, 2532 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago. Huge thanks to & for putting on and event like this, and for letting me weasel my way onto this stacked lineup!

Sorry, I should have mentioned this sooner, but short notice is better than no notice at all. For those interested, I’ll post some of the process photos to my story through the day.

Hey it’s day 2 of at SXSW!
I probably should have said something about it earlier, but I’ve been busy. Flatstock 92 is happening Wednedday through Friday at Hall 5 in the Convention Center, 10a-5p. If you’re in Austin, and enjoy concert posters, art prints, and shirts, I encourage you to swing on down. I am at booth 465 which won’t help you much at all if you are trying to find me.
