What a bittersweet ending - This photo is one of the first weddings I booked when I opened my business. Now, 6 years later, this is the photo I'm posting to say farewell πŸ₯Ί

I want to thank all my brides and grooms, special event clients, corporate clients and venues for choosing me as your event planner and venue consultant. I want to also thank every single vendor that I have worked with in the last several years, I'm going to miss you! It truly has been an amazing ride meeting all my clients, partners, venues, you name it!

So what now?!

I'll be solely focusing on my personal styling business, MH Style Consulting, and branding agency, Branding by MH. So am I going to be giving up events all together? No, it's in my blood πŸ˜‰ However, it will be events for my entrepreneurs at the agency and fashion events for my clients through my styling business. So make sure to follow along so you can still attend my events πŸ₯³

Thanks everyone for the wonderful ride the last 6 years, see ya around ✌️

Happy Monday everyone! πŸ₯Άβ„️ For venues that are starting to think about what they can do to add a little "fluff" to their interior design for 2023 - SIGNS!! If you have a good backdrop = free marketing by your guests!

Whether it's a mural, neon signs like these, a flower wall, etc. it gets the job done! If you can't afford something like this, you can stage a cute lifestyle area with furniture that draws people in to take that Instagram perfect photo πŸ˜‰

Anyone have this already in their venue? Comment below!

It's mid-November so that means that end of 2022 is coming so this is a last call on my offering pre-packaged Audits!

If you're a venue (any kind, any size) that wants to up their game in 2023 and fill up those calendars more, then I would probably take a look πŸ˜‰ I only have a few days left in December, but seems nuts!! How are the holidays around the corner and how is 2022 wrapping up already? 😩

Anywho, you can view them all at MHeventconsulting.com/packages!

In the meantime, any event spaces out there hosting public holiday parties? Post them below!

Are you utilizing photos from live events and weddings from the photographers that have shot in your space? Videos? And more importantly, if you did a styled shoot with a team of vendors, are you utilizing those photos?!

A lot of venues don't and I have no clue why! If you sign up for my Marketing or Digital Audit package, I evaluate this sort of thing because there should be no reason why you aren't sharing these photos. Vendors who put in a lot of work at your space whether it's an actual event/wedding or it's a styled shoot, YOU'RE GETTING FREE CONTENT!

Think about it this way....if you post a photo from an event or styled shoot and tag all the vendors that were part of it, those vendors will most likely reshare it. This means that an audience that doesn't already follow you, COULD! Why would you not want that?

If you want an audit which can include me looking through the photos/content that you have, visit MHeventconsulting.com!

Since announcing that I've retired from event and wedding planning, some people have asked what is 1 thing I'm going to miss - It's definitely my wedding couples 😭 I loved being a part of their love journey and then seeing it all come together on their big day! There's nothing more gratifying than being a part of that πŸ’•

However, I was thinking about this question and the one thing I thought about was that I'm not necessarily losing that part. Now that I'm fully focusing on Venue Consulting, I'm still part of their journey because I'm helping create their dream venue - even though I wouldn't be meeting them per say πŸ™ƒ

For all of you in the wedding industry, what is your favorite part?

Where are your wedding couples hosting their rehearsal dinner the night before? Where are your event clients hosting their dinners after they held their presentation at your space? And why are you letting that money slip away? You're handing their business over to a restaurant. Why not host everything for them?! And restaurants, you need to build a space to accommodate both! Or maybe even partner with a venue πŸ˜‰

Here are a few creative ways you can "sell them" to do this:
β—ΎOffer their dinner space as a discounted package if they book your space for their wedding/event
β—ΎVerbiage is key!! They can bring in their items earlier for their wedding/event since they will be there for a longer time

Side note: Don't do this for a Saturday booking since the night before is a Friday and you could book it as a full event. Same with Sunday! But other than that, this is a great way to get those weekly + Friday bookings!

A little over a week ago, we talked about wedding venues and what they need in order to have a good bridal suite. Today, I'm mentioning 1 other thing you need to make sure you invest in right off the bat - ACOUSTICS!

There has been more times than not that I have walked into a venue who is trying to do live music nights or hosting an event for a client and it's echoing. Please, please, please don't make this mistake! I'm currently looking at new builds for our next home, and sure, they nickel and dime you but I've had to start looking at it as, "do I want to do it over in the future so it's what I like?" Think about your space that way!

My long time event friend, Joe at Day One DJ, has chimed in on this conversation with me and suggests that if you can't invest right away, at least get acoustic panels! They get the job done and they're inexpensive.

What other building mistakes have you seen? Post below!

Want to know one of the biggest mistakes that a venue makes? Not having photos that show other event types!

Whether this means you stage an event like I did here for a local venue or use real photos from events (with permission, of course πŸ˜‰), it's so important! Coming from the planning world, so many of my clients would say, "I checked out this one venue but they had photos of just weddings so they must not cater to clients like me." I'm there to save that venue's butt and I tell the client, "You can absolutely host your shindig there!"

Now some of you venue managers and owners may be thinking, well I built my venue for weddings. That's okay! However, I'm here to ask you...what are you doing to fill up your calendar during the week and in the off-peak season? Especially if you're a venue near me here in MN where there is definitely an off-peak season πŸ₯Ά

Just a little food for thought πŸ˜‰

Don't forget that I have Audits available for a limited time! You can find them at MHeventconsulting.com!

If you're a wedding venue that's in the current building stages or a venue that is doing a remodel, when it comes to the groom and bridal suite, make sure you have the following:

-Good lighting
-Enough outlets (and make sure that if they're all being used, they won't trip)
-Bathrooms for each, if possible....and make the bridal bathroom larger in case the client's dress is massive
-The flow to the ceremony is seamless and that the bridal party won't be seen when lining up
-And for the love of God, please make sure that there is ventilation! You get a large bridal party in there + all the hot hair tools for the bridesmaids and you got one sweaty mess! Plus, you may have some cranky people

There's a lot that goes into a wedding venue - Put yourself in their shoes and what would YOU want on your wedding day? What do you wish you had?
