A former Minnesota school employee has been federally charged after using artificial intelligence (AI) to create s*xually explicit images of children in his care.

William Haslach, of Maplewood, was indicted on five counts of receipt of child po*******hy, five counts of possession of child po*******hy and one count of production of an obscene visual representation of child s*xual abuse. He worked as a lunch monitor and traffic guard in the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school district from 2021 to 2025 and a youth summer programs assistant in the Stillwater school district from 2021 to 2024. He is accused of taking non-explicit photos of children in his care and using those photos to generate AI photos of those children engaging in s*xually explicit conduct.

Our Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Predatory Crimes Unit are continuously working with law enforcement agencies, victim advocate and service providers on issues related to preventing the production and distribution of child s*xual abuse material, and we are currently proposing new legislation to further prohibit and restrict the expansion of AI-generated child s*xual abuse materials in Minnesota.

After a two-week trial, jurors returned a guilty verdict on Friday against Jennifer Lynn Lieber, 47, of Credit River, for the murder of David Joseph Nanovic, 47.

NANCY GUTHRIE LATEST: From FBI Director Kash Patel, who just released new images in the search for Nancy Guthrie.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems.

Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance.
