Some context here: we commit to an increased amount of project management and timeline support, a higher level of vetting, and very in-depth data requests that incorporate executive permissioning prior*** to ever setting our / experts loose on an application process. They enter and meet each client project fresh, with open eyes and hearts - project by project. Each distinct voice deepens the nuance and felt sense of the business case made on behalf of each catchment area, blending evidence with competence and enthusiasm. All other things being equal when it comes to a final review which is out of our hands, our goals result in outcomes specified by the quality and depth of all available data per project alongside the removal of barriers that allow our to succeed unimpeded in a surprisingly short amount of time.

SAMHSA released four new behavioral health NOFOs today, all with a June 15 deadline, giving applicants just 30 days to respond.

If your organization isn't already registered on SAM.gov, Grants.gov, and eRA Commons, start that process today! eRA Commons registration alone can take up to six weeks, which means for some organizations, the window to compete may already be closed before the application is written.

🚨👀 The many SAMHSA NOFOs we have been anticipating (along with the CCBHCs expected May 1st) have a revised projected forecast release date of May 29! (Thankyou, Rhonda Bohs, Ph.D.!)

SAMHSA hasn't indicated any changes to the funding opportunities themselves, so this may reflect broader federal scheduling shifts across agencies right now.

THE SILVER LINING
Organizations now have almost two weeks to:

🔹solidify staffing plans, and
🔹button up your budget.

The Medicaid expansion phase has ended, creating a more restrictive system for behavioral health and social service providers. States are shifting funding away from essential optional services, while CMS and Medicare Advantage plans demand stricter documentation, measurable outcomes, and defensible encounter data.

This is a structural shift. Mandatory services will be protected, while optional services, which support community-based behavioral health, will continually be evaluated for cost and performance.
