And onward!

Change is the one constant in the universe, yes? And sometimes the most wonderful and exciting part of life.

As I begin this new chapter. I am taking stock. I have 25+ yrs of senior healthcare experience, and am a Nationally certified dementia trainer, with a proven ability to build, engage & inspire teams, improve engagement, and create vibrant culture. I am the Author of “Taking Flight! A Whole Life Wellness Handbook” which is getting ready for reprinting and rerelease, and Creating Connections a bridge stage program to be released later this year. I am a Named creator/contributor ICAA Innovators Award Winner 2010 2012, with Extensive Public speaking experience at ASA, ICAA, and LeadingAge. And lastly, but most importantly to me, a Fine Artist, Illustrator & festival logo designer with 4 solo shows, 17yrs of festivals and 20+ books completed, and when that last list of favorite art skills gets added to my love of working with Elders, soul inspiring creativity and the most wonderful painting sessions, on canvases and walls come to pass all across the country.

To honor this newest journey, I joined in an international art competition. Sometimes in order to move forward, and grow something new, some things must be put to rest along the way.

This morning I say my final goodbye.

After 11years of programming, Beyond Bingo closed officially at midnight last night.

I enjoyed each and every moment with all my clients, my painters, my friends.

I started my new role on August 12, as someone’s employee again, as The Director of Life Enrichment for Ciel of Plainfield, but it took the best part of 2.5 months to finish up with all my clients, and that I did finally, this past weekend.

I wish you all the very best. My focus, now, finally, after all my years in senior healthcare is to put myself in the drivers seat of an entire communities programming, and more importantly still, put everything I have been teaching and preaching for all these years to work, to create a culture in my new community that is second to none, world class, and becomes an example for the industry of just what is truly possible.

6 weeks in, I’m exhausted, my dept is really coming together well from good hiring choices, and cleared storage units to new computer systems working well; my Exec Director is happy; and a small portion of my resident population is VERY aggravated with me because bingo has gone from 6 days a week with treats at every game, to 3 shortened and treatless sessions per week.

So we are right on schedule! LOL

To all the communities who were my partners for 11 years, staff and especially residents, I wish you all the very best.

I tried very hard to figure out a fitting good bye, and none seemed as fitting as my beloved friend Heather’s standard.
