Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Olivia Trusty and Senior Legal Advisor Marcus Maher visited Minot on August 13 to tour critical communications systems and engage in roundtable discussion with Minot area leaders.

SRT CEO/General Manager Cassidy Hjelmstad, FCC Commissioner Trusty, and FCC Senior Legal Advisor Maher began the day with a tour from officials of the Minot Air Force Base. They followed the MAFB tour with an afternoon at SRT’s facilities, getting a full picture of the broadband provider and the communities it serves. Are you an organization or group currently funding a project that will benefit your community? If so, please consider applying for the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Community Grant Program. There's still time to apply! The application deadline to SRT is September 1, 2026.

This is a great opportunity for rural projects with a vision of improving the quality of life within the community. Because SRT is an NTCA - The Rural Broadband Association and FRS member, organizations and groups within our service area can apply! If accepted, grants awarded range between $250 and $5,000.

In 2019, SRT board members and employees traveled throughout our service area to host free appreciation meals for our loyal members. We fired up the grill with hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs, making stops in several towns including Westhope, Sherwood, Lake Metigoshe, and Towner. The Hometown Grill Tour was filled with great food, wonderful conversations, and lasting memories with the people we're proud to serve.

Watch all year as we ReMEMBER When. After all, there's no history without our members!
