WOW. I must say... this outta be one of my greatest accomplishments in life. I have been gifted with such skill & talent to share the tools of Yoga to these 35 amazing students at Calipatria State Prison... & I will forever be grateful for this life changing experience. My father spent my entire life behind bars & last spent serving time at Calipatria. It has been an honor to teach Yoga in the same chapel my father use to pray in. I use to see as something that crippled me. It was something that destroyed my entire being, my entire child & entry to woman hood. However, through this healing work, I have only allowed my story to WORK FOR ME- NOT AGAINST ME. It will not interfere with my personal development any longer. Life is too fu***ng precious to be filled with hate, resentment, anger, hostility, regret & so on. I can finally say that I am in a place in life where I am happy with who I am. I am very pleased with the amazing woman I have become and eager to explore what is ahead of me! What I’ve learned is this: Change your story, change your life. Everyone has a story to tell, but how are you telling your story to others? What role are you playing? What responsibilities are you holding yourself accountable for? What are people going to remember you as when you leave this earth!? S**t.. ask yourself these questions before judging another persons lifestyle & mistakes they’ve made. We’re allllllll on our personal journey trying to figure it all out as we go. SoOooO, enjoy the process! 😌 Anyway- hope you can all grasp a little bit of the happiness & excitement in these men’s eyes. Because They are still . Even while spending life behind bars. But fact is, more than half of these men WILL be released at some point. Maybe they’ll be your neighbors... maybe they’ll be your coworkers... maybe they’ll be your friend. Or maybe they already ARE! 🤗
