The Facility Guidelines Institute has just released an errata for their 2022 FGI Guidelines for both Hospitals and Outpatient facilities.

The errata incorporates the recent International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) change to their MRI static magnetic field safety threshold from 5 Gauss (0.5 mT) to 9 Gauss (0.9 mT) for MRI physical environment safety.

MRI suite designs complying with 2022 FGI errata now need only restrict access to areas / rooms where 9 Gauss (or stronger) magnetic fields are present. This may reduce needs for passive magnetic shielding in some MRI installations. Contact RADIOLOGY-Planning for more information.
