Meet Ross 👋

Ross has been with Ape Forge for about six months, and “a little bit of everything” is probably the best way to describe what he does around here. From design, photography, and web development to client relationships, business development, and the occasional oh-so-fun networking event, he keeps plenty of plates spinning.

When he’s not working, you’ll probably find him hanging with his cats, playing his Switch, cheering on the Birds, or getting outside for a hike, ski, or packraft adventure.

Around the office, he’s known for finding himself in ridiculous situations, delivering some impressively insightful complaining, and almost always having a mocha from the café downstairs within reach.

“Why doesn't this color look exactly like it did on my screen?”

Because your screen is making color with light & your printer is making color with ink.

Screens typically display color using RGB, which can produce bright, vibrant colors using red, green, and blue light. Most standard printing reproduces color using cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks.

Those two systems don't have the exact same range of possible colors.

Add differences between monitors, printers, paper, ink, and lighting, and perfect screen-to-print matching gets even trickier.

Same color goal, but two very different ways of getting there.

Allie’s Ape Forge story started back in 2023 as a Graphic Design Intern, and after a little time away, she’s officially back with the team as our Senior Graphic Designer!

Hiring a creative studio doesn't automatically mean throwing away everything you've already built.

The mobile version isn't the desktop version's little sibling.

For plenty of people, it's the only version they'll ever see.

That means mobile can't be the thing we figure out after the desktop design is finished. Content, navigation, hierarchy, interactions, and calls-to-action all have to work within the reality of a smaller screen.

We're not designing a desktop website and making it fit on a phone.

We're designing an experience that needs to work wherever someone finds it.

Hannah joined Ape Forge as our Marketing Intern about a month ago and has already jumped into everything from social media to content creation while putting what she’s learning at the University of Montana into action.

That photo might look great on your phone…. Then someone asks us to put it on a 10-foot banner. Uh oh.

Digital images contain a finite number of pixels. The larger we reproduce an image, the farther those pixels have to stretch.

Eventually, sharp details become soft, blurry, or pixelated. That's why we ask for the largest original image you have. We can always make a big image smaller.

Making a tiny image magically contain detail that was never there? That's a little trickier.

Today, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the bravery of the first responders, and the countless lives forever changed by that day.

May we continue to remember those we lost and the strength, courage, and unity shown in the days that followed.
