City of Mitchell Recycles City of Mitchell Recycling Program started in January 2020.

03/30/2026

We will begin collecting green compost containers, curbside, on the same day as your garbage collection the week of March 30th, 2026 for those people who have signed up for compost collection.

03/18/2026

During the week of April 20th – 24th, 2026 the City of Mitchell will be collecting oversized items set out on the curb. To have these items collected, set the item or items on the curbside on the day your garbage is normally collected.

02/12/2026

On Monday, February 16th, 2026 in observance of President's Day, garbage collection will start at 7:00 am and will be completed by noon. The City of Mitchell Regional Landfill will close at noon on Monday, February 16th, 2026.

01/15/2026

On Monday, January 19th, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King’s Birthday, garbage & recycling collection will begin at 7:00 A.M. and be completed by 12:00 noon.

12/29/2025

Due to the observance of New Year’s Day on Thursday January 1st, 2026 there will be no garbage collection. Garbage will be collected one day later than normal for end of week. Collection will be Friday January 2nd to Saturday January 3rd, 2026.

12/18/2025

Due to the observance of the Christmas Eve & Christmas Day holiday on Wednesday December 24th and Thursday December 25th, 2025 the garbage & recycling collection schedule will be changed.

12/05/2025

The Compost Drop-Off Site located at 1405 West 8th Ave. will be closing for the season Friday December 12th, 2025.

11/25/2025

Due to the observance of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 27th, there will be no garbage or recycling collection. Wednesday and Thursday’s garbage and recycling will be collected on Wednesday.

11/05/2025

In observance of Veterans Day on Tuesday November 11th, 2025 garbage collection will begin at 7:00 AM and be completed by noon. The Mitchell Regional Landfill will close at noon on Tuesday November 11th, 2025. I
