Robin McNeely Mitchell High School Senior Class Trip 1958
68 years ago this April Robin McNeely and some of his high school senior classmates took the Monon train northbound headed out for their senior trip to Washington DC.
Not all the classmates got to go due to the $100 fee. $100 was really hard to come by Robin stated. I saved up for some of the money on my own and my father went to the bank and got the rest out so I could take the trip. But most of the students families cannot afford to go on the trip. Heck, we couldn’t afford it either but dad helped me out.
After the long train ride they made it to Washington DC and stayed three days visiting the Washington monument and the Smithsonian Institute. That seemed to take up most of the time so they never got to visit the White House.
Robin could identify most of his classmates in the photo. Its been a while he said.
