⚠❄WINTER STORM ALERT❄⚠ This is a potentially life-threatening winter storm set to impact the weather across Kentucky this weekend. Significant amounts of snow and ice followed by brutally cold air is the recipe for major issues. Please take this seriously.

Be sure to check your Propane tank level! If you’re 30% or lower give us a call for a fill up or a minimum of 100 gallons!

This is a future storm system that may move out of the central U.S. and affect the Ohio/Tennessee Valley and parts of the Southeast.

The reason I labeled it “A VERY TRICKY SITUATION” is because the exact path of the low pressure is still unknown, and with winter weather a small change in track can totally change who gets what.

What the colors mean

Think of the colored zones like “possible outcomes”:
• Green area = warmer air / rain
• If the storm track pulls in enough warmth, precipitation falls mainly as rain.
• Pink area = wintry mix zone
• This is the messy weather: sleet + freezing rain + sometimes snow.
• This zone is usually where travel impacts are worst because ice can develop.
• Blue area = colder air / snow
• Farther north, if cold air wins, precipitation falls as snow.

So the whole event becomes a battle between:
• cold air in place
vs.
• warm air pushing in

The BIG message: uncertainty is HIGH

This is the type of setup where:

A shift of 50–100 miles

can mean the difference between:
• heavy snow ❄️
or
• an ice storm 🧊
or
• cold rain 🌧️

And right now, model guidance often struggles with:
• the exact low pressure track
• how fast warm air moves north
• how stubborn the cold air is at the surface
