One of the most important lessons I’ve learned over the past year is this:

People are rarely paying you for the task. They’re paying you for the expertise behind the task.

When I create an AI solution, design a workshop, build a learning experience, develop a strategic framework, build an app, or produce a professional video, the deliverable is only the visible part of the work.

What people don’t see are the decades spent in education, counseling, entrepreneurship, leadership, curriculum design, technology, communication, and continuous learning that make those deliverables possible.

For years, I underestimated my own value because many of these skills came naturally to me.

I won’t make that mistake again.

As professionals, we have to stop pricing ourselves based solely on hours worked or the final product. We should also recognize the knowledge, judgment, creativity, and experience that make exceptional work possible.

Knowing your worth isn’t about arrogance.

It’s about accurately valuing the investment you’ve made in becoming the person who can solve problems that others cannot.

The right clients, organizations, and partners understand that distinction. Those are the relationships worth building.

Here's something that might surprise you: Artificial Intelligence has been around since the 1950s. 😮

We didn't just invent it last year. We didn't wake up with it in 2022. Scientists and researchers have been working on this concept for over 70 years.

So why does it feel so sudden? Because the tools finally caught up with the vision.

Learn the history lesson on AI — and share it with anyone who thinks this is 'brand new' technology.

There's a lot of fear swirling around AI, but is the fear pointed in the right direction?

Let's have a REAL conversation about who actually needs to be concerned about artificial intelligence and why. Spoiler: it has more to do with your willingness to adapt than the technology itself.

Watch, share, and tell me — are you afraid of AI? Why or why not? 👇

Stop Calling AI Usage Cheating: Students Have Always Found Ways to Cheat

Many people are focused on the wrong conversation when it comes to artificial intelligence in education.

Students did not suddenly start cheating because AI exists. Students have always found ways to cut corners. The real question is whether we are preparing students, educators, families, and communities to use AI responsibly and effectively.

AI literacy, workforce readiness, and digital responsibility matter more than fear-based conversations about technology.

As AI continues to reshape education, careers, and everyday life, communities must decide whether they will lead, adapt, or be left behind.

The Biggest AI Mistake Schools Are Making Right Now

The Biggest AI Mistake Schools Are Making Right Now

DESCRIPTION

Many schools are focused on one question: "How do we stop students from cheating with AI?"

But that may be the wrong question.

The real challenge is helping students learn how to use AI ethically, responsibly, and effectively.

Employers are increasingly looking for workers who can use AI tools while still demonstrating critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and sound judgment.

The goal is not to replace thinking.

The goal is to improve thinking.

Students need more than access to AI tools. They need AI literacy, ethical decision-making skills, and the ability to evaluate information critically.

What AI skill do you believe every student should learn before graduation?

Share your thoughts in the comments.

Guess what…

Tomorrow at the Alabama Educational Technology Conference, I’ll be presenting:

“Closing the AI Gap: A Practical Framework for Ethical AI Implementation in Schools”

As someone who has spent more than 35 years in education, counseling, entrepreneurship, and workforce development, I’m excited to join educators, administrators, and technology leaders from across Alabama in one of the most important conversations in education today.

AI is here! The question is no longer if schools should address it, but how we do it responsibly, ethically, and in ways that prepare students for the future.

I am looking forward to sharing practical strategies, real-world examples, and a framework schools can begin using immediately.

If you’re attending AETC, stop by and say hello! I will be in Embassy Big Springs Ballroom D at 1:00 pm! 🗣️🎤🩵
